I'm new to electronics, thank you for the great and simple build. If I wanted to add a pot, where would I connect it? Thank you. Subbed and bell on!

Thank you, I'm glad I could help, it's nice to see people dealing with creativity and electronics together. Of course, we can add a potentiometer to this circuit and it would be very useful, but a multi-turn potentiometer is the right choice for adjusting such high voltage with high precision. If we replace the resistor connected to the gate (signal) input of the mosfet with a 10k multi-turn pot, it will work. respects.

Hello, first of all, thank you for your interest. There is no fluctuation or change of direction in the direct current we use here, so we cannot talk about a frequency like in alternating current. Yes and no; The important thing is not the total size, but the number of turns in the inductor to both way. yes you can use elements wrapped around any ferromagnetic core with proper calculation.

Very nice, but not useful in practice. The current of the 450V is very very low. More useful would be an input of a 36v (e-bike) battery. Let's say 3 pieces parallel. Each one with 14A, so a input pressure of 42A. Now a need a stable output of 50V or 60V but with, let's say between 25A and 30A. This output goes in a sinus controller who can handle 40 - 63v (40 is the cut-off) I need 1500W out of my motor, so need output current 25A if I choose for the 60V, or 30A if I choose for 50V output. Better input and output voltage is close to each other. But anyhow, the stuff I can buy on the internet can give me output voltage enough, even to 90V, but has a max input current of 25A, (if I use >30-60v input). so I never get a output current of >25A. I can give the whole thing enough cooling, but when it comes input current more than 25A, the system stops boosting and give me input = output and the controller does a cut off, because it's under 40V. Of course I can buy a bigger controller who can handle more voltage and or has no cut off voltage, but that does not solve the mean problem.....I need a bigger dc dc step up booster.
@Engineer093 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for your comment. Yes, if we talk about this circuit and power supply, since the input power (12v, max10amps=120w) will be approximately equal to the output power, the current that will keep the system running will be around 0.26 amps at the maximum voltage level (120/450=). In a dc-dc boost circuit that can meet your needs (1500w), there must be more mosfets, a large cooler radiator and additional fan, an additional capacitor to avoid voltage drop at high current due to high temperature (since dc current and low frequency mosfets will have low durability). . In addition to these, it should be supported with stable output voltage and current stabilizer circuit. (Like link below) banggood.app.link/VaKi2kTAtjb

@@Engineer09 I know those boosters. Few years ago I had a few 1200W versions and now they have the latest 1800W version. It's much stable and higher efficiency, but if input voltage 30V than max input current is 25A max. To get the 1800W in the output, they assume that you run something on 90V, and still you need 20A on the output. But I need max 60V and to get my 1500W I still need 25A on the output. But I also read in others stores that the 1800W version has an input max current of 40A and out max 30A, but I don't believe that, because they use the same components as the 1500W version, only the heatsink it bigger where they put the fan on.
@Engineer093 жыл бұрын
@@platosocrates232 yes I understand and you know that transformers and boosters can cause significant power loss, especially if there is direct and high current involved. Have you ever considered using alternating current to minimize this power loss? then you could easily achieve the voltage conversion you want with a simple core and a few winding coils. I also agree that many products sold on those known sites do not reflect the truth in terms of their features, especially about inverters... By the way, have you tried connecting 2 boosters in parallel with a good cooler?
@platosocrates2323 жыл бұрын
@@Engineer09 I use the boosters because in the past I used 36v motors and controllers on self build handbikes for wheelchairs. But the last year I use 48v motors and controllers. I have several 36v (12 pieces) batteries and a good mounting systems to the bikes, so buying a booster was much cheaper than buy 3 or 6 or even 12 new batteries of 48v. Of course you can say, why overvolting the 48v motor to 60v? Because it gives me more power☆ More power, because those motors and controllers only need low current of 7A and 15A max. So no problem to get 7A on the output site with 60v. It not past the limits of 25A input. But now for a few week I build another bike with a bigger 48v motor who can deliver 1000 - 1500W and a bigger controller. That's why I need more current than the 7 and 15A max. I saw a video of I guy who did two boosters of the 1800W version parallel, but not saw if it works. He is still working on it. If that is possible, that would be a nice solution for this bike. Of course I can buy a few 48 or even 60v batteries with 30A or even 40A, but that is expensive and I need another system than to mouth it on the bikes

@Engineer092 жыл бұрын
hello, the inductor I used was disconnected from a pc power supply. If you have such a faulty power supply that you do not use or that you can find, you can get it from inside. otherwise you have two chances; Connect 2 150-200H inductors together and give the terminal a positive pole from the battery, now you have the other positive pole coming out of the inductors, connect one to the middle leg of the mosfet and the other to the signal leg, it will work. the other option is to wind 30 turns of inductor and solder the positive power port right in the middle, the rest is the same. Remember there will be dangerous voltage output so be careful. respects.

What is the efficiency of this circuit, did you calculate it?
@Engineer093 жыл бұрын
Yes, It would not be right to expect large capacity from such small circuits. I was able to get up to 1.5 amps at most with a single transistor. By enlarging the circuit, it is possible to reach high currents without decreasing the efficiency.
