My biggest struggle as a photographer is not having another photographer buddy to go out and shoot together, to learn from, and to keep each other hyped!
@RickBebbingtonКүн бұрын
That sounds tough - where do you live? I've met a load of people through here and through IG as well as online forums. In fact, I don't think I've met anyone through photography who I cannot trace back to meeting on the Internet!!

If you have tips for getting past procrastination that would be interesting.

Was such a pleasure to meet and hang out with you this year Rick, I’ve loved watching your journey through this channel and your email updates. Wishing you a fantastic Christmas and New Year, look forward to seeing what you get up to in 2025, hopefully our paths will cross again! 🤞🏻

You've been promoted to amateur photographer, my congratulations! Perks include but are not limited to: enjoying photography, having a dedicated everyday camera, occasionally taking snapshots instead of forcing every shot to be "art", exploring editing for fun and sometimes neglecting it at no cost, and more.

Haha!!! I hope it remains that way 😂

Such a great video, Rick! After a few years of expensive landscape workshops, I realized that I loved the experience and hanging out with the other photographers, but I wasn’t necessarily happy with the results, probably because I wasn’t getting my reps (additional shooting) in between. This year I did 2 dedicated solo trips and am planning more for 2025. Although the cognitive load is higher than when I have a guide (where will I go, when, general logistics all on me), I gained a lot more confidence and thoroughly enjoyed both trips. Happy Holidays!

That's great to hear!! I think it's like that with a lot of things, you can get so much out of intense periods (like workshops and dedicated trips), but that soon fades away if you aren't doing bits in between (that's where the everyday camera comes in!!). Hope you have a good 2025!

As someone very new in my photography journey (as my bare profile suggests!) your advise on this channel lately as well as your Instagram account is just what I've needed to hear and see in the last couple of months. I've realised that I'm NOT too old to learn a new skill, that my own personal imposter syndrome is never really going to go away, which I've now realised is incredibly liberating. So I may as well carpe diem and just go for it! I have no idea what kind of photo/video journey 2025 is going to be, but for the first time in ages, that's actually exciting. And I can't wait to find out. A happy Christmas to you and yours, from a very appreciative amateur photographer. 🙏
@RickBebbington8 күн бұрын
Thanks Darius - I'm so happy that it's been helpful to you! Absolutely not, you're never too old. You'll be surprised (I hope) how much your imposter syndrome fades over time when you take that attitude - good luck to you! Have a good one mate, keep going 🙌🏻

Carry on Rick. Thank you for the courage to share along with the time and effort it takes. I'm at that stage in life where there are far more leaves on the ground than are left on the tree. There is no expression of any art form everyone loves. Life is not like that. Shoot because you love it; whatever it is. Peace and good will to you and your clan. Cheers from across the big pond.

Thank you for the honest and genuine videos you have made this year, Rick. They really are inspirational and they have helped me so much. I love your images but the most important thing is that you like them and the most important thing for me is that I like my images. To believe in my own work is such a great mindset to have., so thank you for reminding me of that. Hsve a great holiday and I look forward to seeing more of your work in 2025.

You had a wild 2024! I agree that dedicated photography trips are good for the soul. They're intentional and focused. I'm optimistic that mine this spring will do the same as it did for me this past year. Also, how on earth do you recover from a trip like Antartica?! What is life like after that?!
@RickBebbington9 күн бұрын
It was pretty different to any year previously!! Yeah, I love them - they are more beneficial than I can really put into words. I'm sure it will be for you! That's a great question, I'm not sure!! Going to Yellowstone and the Tetons off the back of it helped soften the blow, but probably just bumped everything down the road a bit. Nothing else will ever really compare to that - maybe that's why I struggled over the summer and ended up a bit burned out? No matter what you do after an experience of that level, there's going to be quite a comedown...
