Dude, you have some awesome tips in this video. Like the ones at 4:35 about the safety shroud for the dado cuts, and the one at 6:24 about gang-clamping the legs to a straight-edge in order to true-up the top joints. What I'm curious about is the T-Shirts you wear in your videos. Love the slogans and images, but it must cost you a fortune to have so many custom printed like that. Slick idea none the less. One last thing; when are you going to build a proper miter saw stand? You really seem to need one.
@christianmcdermott66196 жыл бұрын
4 years late but hopefully you see and respond. I'm new to woodworking and going to make this stool (thanks for the video) but just curious... I was thinking about jointing one side of a 2x4, then using that as a reference to rip the board with the table saw so there are two parallel sides... then going through and cross cutting the lengths I need. Is this feasible or is there a reason you cut the lengths you needed before planing them to get them to the thickness you want? Thanks for any feedback!
@ubiratanoliveira6925 жыл бұрын

Nice Project as usual! Just wondering, what does an eight foot 2x4 cost approximately in America? Last month I built two of your Saw horses but lumber is so expensive over here in Germany, that I used some cheap garden fence planks. I cut them to right size and then glued for each leg two of them together for the right thickness. Keep up the good work!

Nice - thanks for the tips. Do you find it a PITA switching out blades? (dado). The time frustration made me pick up an old Radial Saw for $50, dedicated to dado/rabetting/laps. space killer, but a time saver for me.
@whitewolf875810 жыл бұрын
Yeah this exactly why I struggle so long on getting a radial arm saw due to space and tbe more I keeo switching blades the more I want a radial arm saw. Its also funny when I look on Craigslist for them and they pop up like 3-4 per week and are very cheap rather than buy a new one. I worked for a company that used them just for the dado purpose and tbats why I am going with the idea of getting one!

Hey Jay, really nice design, build and as always great video. - I've been thinking about picking up a cheap gravity feed spray gun from Harbor Freight to spray finish my projects (cans of spray varnish & shellac are getting expensive)... So I'm curious about what spray gun you're using as well the finish/ mixture you sprayed? Thanks!
@JayBates10 жыл бұрын
Stew Pidass I was using the cheap Harbor Freight gun. And if/when it ever fails I will get another one of the same guns. It's a Harbor Freight gem. I sprayed Target Coatings EM6000 water based production satin lacquer. It's a little pricey but I love the finish I get with it and its water based so its easy water cleanup.

Hey. Great video as usual. I think you should do a video on making a set of economical bookshelves from 4x8 sheets of plywood. I have been thinking about this project for a while- essentially use three sheets of plywood- the carcass would be made of two strips of plywood 96" x 12". The top and bottom of the carcass would be 48" x 12" pieces and the shelves would be the same. I am thinking that from 3 sheets of plywood I could get enough material to build two 8' x 4' bookshelves 12" deep. Each bookshelf would have 8 shelves. I am just not sure what kind of joinery would be best. I am sure you would do a great job figuring this out. Anyway just a suggestion because I have searched on-line and on youtube and I haven't found a whole lot.
