Not sure about your area, but if you get after it and hustle as much as possible, you can do better than minimum wage in washington state. I work full time a few more $ than minimum wage in my area as is, but door dash averages more than that when I work after I get off and on my days off. It's not like manual labor or entry level fast food jobs. You leverage those people to get the completed order handed to you and you bring them to the customer's destination. If you can drive safely, take care of your car and can afford a possible collision on minimum insurance provided through door dash and move with a sense of urgency, you can do well. I wish you luck in this stage of your life. I hope you're doing well with door dash or finding another way if not

On my first day of lunch hour, they gave me three orders on the same route. I was so anxious. But once I completed that batch, I love it when that happens to me. Usually batch orders are restaurants very close to each other and so are the customers. And I always let the customers know where I am as well.

Well the first batch order I received and accepted ended up lowering my on time rating. The second order didn’t show the city and trying to switch back between tasks locked up so I had to improvise. I completed the order everyone seemed fine and only the on time rating took a ding. Learning curve for me, it was my fourth day as a dasher and first batch order. It was fun..cool challenge. I think that’s the key to keep the stress level at zero..it’s a game..have fun and when you stop having fun move on. Life is too short we won’t be this able and free spirited forever🙂

17% acceptance rate here. Screw that. I'm not delivering a 4 dollar taco bell order thats 7 miles away and another 3 miles to get there. Pro tip: dont take low ball orders. Top dasher isn't worth it. Door Dash is basically "rewarding" you to foot the bill on crap orders. Cherry picking will ensure you get 20 per hour minimum.

I took a batched order recently and it worked out even though I was late to both of them. Had a couple weird things happened. After I picked up the first order the customer for that order asked me to pick up another order from the same restaurant that they had not ordered with Doordash. Then on the way to each customers house I had to find an alternate route because a train was stuck on tracks for about an hour. Lovings your videos, keep it up.

I honestly had no idea what a "batched order" was until i watched this video. I do batched orders everyday and for me its never been a problem for me. The main thing with batched orders is the order and speed of those delivers if you maximize efficiency while delivering one or more orders than you will have nothing to worry about.

When doing doordash in my area I stick to the places where I know there are a lot of order's and where the most demand is. I only accept orders that have a higher payout and lower travel distance. I used to accept like every order but it pays to be more selective. Every day I usually just work around dinner time. I have a lot of orders during this time and they don't slow down until midnight. If I work midday I will likely travel longer distances and make less money. There arent many orders during that time. I have been averaging between $30 to $40 every hour easily. If you haven't noticed like me later at night there will be a delivery challenge for 4 dashes and you get paid an extra $10 for dashing later. I went from making $20 an hour to around $40.

Did my first Dash tonight. I did about $20 an hour here in Torrance area on a Sunday night and I did not burn lots of gas like I do with Rideshare. The only thing I will do next time is bring a flashlight with me for dark drop-offs. I found this work less stressful than rideshare. I want to keep doing the dashing in the Torrance area because there is plenty of parking here. I don't want more money for shitty parking problems. I also want to approach Doordash the way with Uber and work when I want to instead of scheduling.

Just finished my first week dashing. 31 hours, after gas and including cash tips, $235. Comes to $7.58 per hour. I would just be happy to make $11 or $12 per hour. Average order is about $6.50, of course any customer tip from zero to $5.50 is already included in that. Cherrypicking? I only get an order if I'm right next to the restaurant, and the payout is always about the same. No such thing as cherrypicking. Must just take everything offered, just to earn SOMETHING.

Most people won't earn over $7-8/hr after fuel and a light snack or two daily, 7 days a wk. I did dashing in a few busy cities with a pop over 6 mill and was lucky to earn $475-530/per week working 65-70 hrs a week. No $ for milage, CEO stealing the tips and $1-2 base pay???!!!! Please. All while the top execs earn many millions per yr. Drivers in cities with populations under 6 million should get a base salsry of 2500/mo plus tips and 20 cents a mile. That MIGHT get up to a total of 3500-3700 per mo. But all this $20-40/hr bs is pure BS. Unless yourin Smell-L.A. of San Fran-sleezco where they pay $15/hr which is low for those areas.

@@ourevilone It's 80% during that "peak pay" period. If you tap a region to start a dash now, or tap the three little lines in the upper right when on a dash you will see the terms of that peak pay promotion. Typically in my market (Seattle also), they are 80% acceptance and sometimes (usually in the morning), they have a "you must accept 2" bullet point. Yesterday, they threw on an emergency surge peak pay and one of the ones they threw on was a $1 that had NO terms. So you were getting paid $1 extra per delivery no matter what.

2:50 Right. That took me a few days of short doordashing to realize that. Before I was always trying to drive to a nearby busy area and have it mostly disappear when I arrive before I could begin my dash. Now I just have more discipline to say in my area during peak hours of lunch and dinner if I'm currently already in my area. And in my location of Richmond, VA there seems to be even more demand for food delivery after 9pm. And on their app with my android phone, doordash says they need drivers until 3 am every evening.

Note: Many customers order through Door Dash because they are busy. As a previous customer, I know I don’t want to be bothered with silly messages about condiments. I only want messages when there are problems or delays. That’s it. And most people order their food with condiments on them, or they have them at the home or office since that’s where they eat lunch. Use your best judgement and make sure not to annoy the customer. Many don’t want any contact at all with the driver. Also, don’t lingering around after giving them their order. Customers know when delivery drivers are fishing for a tip. In their view, they’ve already tipped so they don’t have to deal with that. Customers will be less likely to use Door Dash in the future if they feel like they are being pressured for extra tips after the fact. Just select runs that your content with and be thankful for those that do tip extra. That way you won’t be disappointed and wont get yourself all worked up over nothing.

My only confusion here is the idea that you could get tipped higher after the customer already placed the order. Doesn't happen on the app. The tip is placed at the time the order is placed. DD is not then asking the customer if they'd like to give more.

@@gtcstorm40 I reject all offers that are not fast food, unless I'm already doing an order from another app that will take me 20 minutes or so. How you get screwed is when you get a $10 offer for a 2 mile trip to a pizza shop and only realize when you get to the restaurant that you have to order and they're making the pie from scratch! I'm all about quality food, but definitely don't wanna wait around.

It’s getting more then one order at a Time I had one and it was a disaster first off I had to wait extra time for the food then I get to the first customers house and they don’t answer the door so I waited like 15 minutes trying to get ahold of him texted him and calling him several times he had the wrong number on the website but finally I got ahold of him and drop off the food then I go to the 2nd customers address the apps gps takes me way out of the way to the wrong apartment complex I had to contact the customer and ask for his location because the name of the apartment complex was not on the address so then i used a different gps to find the place which was like 7 miles from where the door dash gps took me it took me probably a hour and a half maybe longer to deliver both orders and the customer I could tell was really mad when I got to his address as soon as he opened the door his dog ran out and I helped chase him down 3 flights of stairs to get him then I carried the dog back up the 3 flights of stairs for him that took me a extra 5 minutes at least but still I’m pretty sure the customer gave me the worst 1 star rating he could doing multiple orders made me late to delivery I had to wait like 20 minutes at the restaurant for the food I got to the first customer really quick but if something goes wrong and you can’t get ahold of the customer your gonna be even more late to the next customers address it was crazy and they where both apartments sometimes they are really hard to find I didn’t make nothing on those orders I probably spent more money in gas then I got for both orders plus a hour and a half later I was just relieved that it was over With

You can take a Dash and end the shift right away. That way you get paid the surge and you just start a new dash again. I pick whichever orders I want to take even during dash time. Sometimes they give you back to back orders then you have to take the second consecutive one to maintain the 80% then you just end the dash right away.
@Gignation

@ Steve sun You mean you end the dash immediately after accepting the order?? But in that case, it's always been my experience that the app doesn't allow you to end the shift while you're on a delivery run, it only allows you to end a shift AFTER you've COMPLETED the delivery. So, are you saying to end the shift AFTER delivery?? My 2nd question is about your last statement: "....then you have to take the second consecutive one to maintain the 80%" - How could you get less than 80% acceptance rate by not accepting the batch if you're (as you've suggested) frequently ending & restarting shifts?
@christineharvey3572
@christineharvey3572 5 жыл бұрын
belilu belilu You need to accept and deliver 2 orders. Then you can end the dash, but, if a market is over saturated with drivers and it’s slow, you may not be able to get back on the app again. The problem arises when you are working a block and you decline or unassign yourself from more than 2 orders during the peak pay period (surge) which is a very short time frame anyway 4:30-7:30 pm for dinner usually. It doesn’t get busy until 5:30 pm anyway So make sure you accept and complete 2 orders and make sure you don’t lose any orders (and that includes when you lose wifi and are unable to accept an order- DD doesn’t care whether you couldn’t accept an order due to Wifi issues since they treat that as s decline. bc if it’s slow and say you only do 5/7 orders during that peak period, (accepting 5 orders/declining 2 you will be at 71% and youll lose everything you’ve gained

I. Really believe Doordash is deactivating drivers because they just do not want to pay the workers. I noticed ever since I could get paid the same day and my pay went up. All of a sudden the customer rating dropped. COVID hit and everything became a complete nightmare. This company just has a high turnover rate. Because everyone is dashing now because of COVID and they can start over with new ppl.
