Okay, so something that might fix some problems regarding mods is that the java requirement might need to be set to java 17 instead of 21.

hey just a question, if i wanted to add more mods do i need to make a mods folder or do i just drag it to where we put the server.jar file? and do i need to make sure its all forge compatable? great video btw!

Whenever mods are involved, all mods need to go in a mod folder. This is a forge jar, so forge mods only

@@TopothetopYT ah okay, i keep having trouble with that that though like i make sure it's a forge mod and for the right version of mc and i put it in the folder and then when i go to run the server it just fails and doesnt run. i know it says whats wrong in the log but i dont really understand it

love the tutorial question can i just download mods from forge and add the to the server mods folder or how does that work since this plugin makes the mods from forge work right? do i only need to lauch fabric mods too or any mods

You wouldn't need fabric mods on a forge server. I can't exactly tell what you are asking me, because you can only add forge mods to a forge server, and yes, you would need to add mods to the mods folder on the server

.......this is a FORGE jar. If you want to make a fabric server, feather client already has options for that.

That probably means you don't have file extensions visible, so you can just rename what you see to just server, and with the file extension at the end (being .jar) it would count as server.jar

that doesn't have 1.12.2, just use a mohist or magma server jar instead of ketting

whenever I try to start up the server, it just doesn't start. It says server launch finished but it also says stopped at the top right corner. It works fine when I don't have any mods in the folder, but when i add them it refuses to start. What should I do?

apparently when red was making the tutorial, he said to use java 21, but for some mods they only accept java 17, so try that and see what happens

@@TopothetopYT I put in quite a bit, so I wont name them all but the mods that had the problem were ice and fire, waystones, and citadel. It says “mismtahced mod channel list” and ive searched up how to fix it, but they don’t really work. I can play in normal singpleplayer and aternos works with these mods, I think its some issue with feather client so I guess ill just play in aternos. Thank you for replying though!

if you are using a set modpack premade, then chances are aternos had a pre-existing modpack that works, but for feather client you'd have to install the server pack for that modpack or manually remove all mods that are only used on your minecraft client

Can somebody help me? When I copied the server.jar into the folder the first time, It worked, but while i was trying to add a pixelmon modpack, the world crashed and the whole thing stopped working, and I tried to create another server and copy the server.jar into the folder but now the whole thing just crashes before it even asks for what version I want the world to be. So what should I do?

Some mods are meant to only be in the client you are running for minecraft. The crash report on the server should give hints to which mod crashed

......okay, let me give an example. If the modpack has sodium, that's a client only mod. If you have it on the server mods, it crashes. Some mods are like that. That doesn't mean pixelmon doesn't work, but some mods in the modpack can't run server side. I know pixelmon works from experience of playing it

@TopothetopYT When I try to just put pixelmon into the mod folder, It keeps on saying that there isn't enough ram when I clearly do, I've tried a common fix where you decrease and then increase the amount of ram the server your hosting can use but that doesn't work either. When I put the maximum amount of ram slider to around 4000, the error disappears, but the server code stops at loading spawn area 100%, and it says that 3 times. Ik its a lot but do you know how to fix this problem?

pixelmon 1.20.2 is quite difficult to launch through this method, I'd suggest using 1.16.5 pixelmon and using mohist or magma server jar

you just download mods for the appropriate version, and then put it in the mods folder within the server folder (the same folder that contains the jar file you put in will have the mods folder when you launch ketting for the first time)

.......yes, that's the jar file. Are you worried about the 7 turning into an 8 instead? Because that just means that the creators updated it

I feel like you are very new to how modding works, have you actually played with mods before? Because if not, I'd try to learn that first, especially if you don't understand how the versions work, which is a built in minecraft feature

I'm not quite familiar with that bug, did you rename the server jar file to server.jar? And if so, do you have file extensions visible in file explorer? (Such as .txt on text documents and .mp4 or .mov on video files). Because .jar is the file extension, and if you don't have it on, then you could've renamed the jar file to server.jar.jar
