@BADDERSBETTERDIORAMAHACKS1212 жыл бұрын
Hi Felis, Your video is superb, enhanced by your calm and soothing voice! And your finished tree is superb! But it's not surprising when you have the patience of a saint. Gluing on single leaves would send most people around the bend. I know of one guy who glued single leaves to his model tree, 3000 of them and he posted the finished diorama on the modeller's website which I belong to. He then set about making an even larger diorama with 6 such trees................ and we never saw him again! LOL. I myself have made a few trees, but mine are 'indestructible' because over time ANY tree will get dusty and maybe even covered in cobwebs, so I wanted to be able to jet wash mine with an airbrush, and even vacuum-clean them so I don't have to worry about damaging them when that situation arises. So, that leads to my question........... do you encase your dioramas in glass/persex/plastic? Also, I make my leaves from paper using paper punches and I wonder why you use real leaves which will decay over time. Paper contains kaolin and is acidic and will pretty much last hundreds of years.
@Felisbarcinonensis2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your super comment! :) That missing guy must have those 6 trees under his belt but I guess now he must be hunting bananas he sees inside his head LOL I've had enough making one every two or three years. The question,.. I just dust the model every week and blow those leaves with air from my lungs, they're in good shape after all this time... a glass protection would be great though. I use the real leaves because they have the most realistic texture but I treat them before with transparent lacquer on both sides, that should slow or stop natural decay. Cheers bud

That’s the most incredible thing I’ve EVER seen!!! I’ve seen (finished) trees in dioramas using single leaves, but I never knew HOW they did it. Well, now I know what I’m IN for!!! 😉 Thanks for posting! I’ll probably need to watch this video 100 times. But that tree was MASTERFUL!
@Felisbarcinonensis3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for your comment bud :) I'm glad the vid has inspired you. Just bear in mind that the most difficult part is to make that white clay look like branches, it requires a few days because you need to respect the 24 hour drying time, and you do need to work by layers/days. Once that part is done the rest is easy, but... not fast. Good luck and enjoy the experience. Oh! It's good to take pics or make a some kind of log or slide show, it helps your memory and usually you see things that you wouldn't see otherwise. Cheers!
