Don't forget - if you are afraid of sticking yourself with pins - middle age dresses could also have tie on sleeves. Just have to sneak in one end of the tie/string into your sleeve hem that's closer to your wrist and do the elbow closest seam on the sleeve. Did this for a play and we were able to use the sleeves for other plays later down the road and made for awesome reusability and versatility of the work that was put into the dress creation. We could even add different over skirts/kirtles, aprons, etc to make whole new outfits.

I like the idea of using rings! I hate making eyelets and using grommets i always mess up or they end up scratching or pulling out.

Very beautiful! Just one question I always have, as it seems uncomfortable for daily tasks: pinning the sleeves: how exactly is it pinned to stay and not hit the skin if moving a lot, and what type of pins? ☺️ I'd really like to understand that part as I'm planning to create a lot of woolen removable sleeves and I'm trying to find out which method would allow me to do so without altering the base dresses with loops or eyelets... and I have the opposite weather, very cold climate 9 months out of 12 so I really need them to stay put.😂 Thank you for the video, it was lovely and informative!❤

i know it's period accurte to pin the sleeves on... however... would putting your lacing rings on the sleeves in strategic places be acceptable... ???

I don't see why not. In my opinion, if lacing rings were used historically for the front closure, I don't see why some people wouldn't have wanted to use them for sneaky and neat tie-on sleeves aswell. I don't know what the sources say on this, but humans are inherently practical beings, so if something works for one part of a garment, why not use that method for a different part aswell? I'm sure there were people back then who also couldn't stand excessive pins and got creative.

Yay! Yes, you can use either the metal rings or sewn eyelets, both will be okay!
