Glad you like it :) I think you're right this is a perfect bead stash sort of project, especially if you've got several washable cloth masks that might look best matched with different colored beads. I've got a green mask, a red mask, a blue one, my color palette is all over the place mask-wise.

Thanks Erica, so glad you like this video! We're Beadaholique by the way, an independent jewelry supply store based in California! We have a lot of tutorials like this one that use Beadalon products but this isn't an official Beadalon video, we just use their stuff because we like it.

I have been making these for the past month! I think I have made about 12 already. Some will be Christmas presents. ( Who would have thought?) I have been using the wire guards though. Just placed an order from you for more supplies! Thanks for the great idea.

Thanks for the order Julie, and thanks for the work you're doing making masks! It's been really heartening to see the crafting and sewing community come together to learn new skills like mask making to help out during quarantine.

I just made one out of 25 inches of Shiny Silver Roll Chain. The chain is 5.5 mm wide. I cheated because I didn't have time to string my beads. I also used two 30 mm Lobster Clasps that I already had on hand. I attached the clasps to the chain by using an open jump ring on each end. My nextdoor neighbor works in retail so I just made one for her too.

For this one we made the finished chain about 24 in. (60cm) long. I'd suggest trying that length out as a starting point. You can cut a piece of string, tie it to a mask to see how that sits, and adjust from there to find the perfect length.

I find 24 inches is a good length on me. You can also test of different sizes ahead of time by tying a bit of string to both ends of a mask and seeing what length feels most natural for you.

Hey Sharon, check out our project page for the mask holder here, it lists the different sizes of beads we used: beadaholique.com/products/beaded-mask-holder We used 24 inches (305mm) of wire to make ours but that's just a rough guideline, you should size yours however it feels most comfortable

Sorry, but it's NOT a good idea to take off/on the same mask.. With the single use mask, you should throw it away after touching it/ taking it off/down & take a new one.. if you pull the mask up & down you are touching it & spreading the virus particles on your hands, face, neck, hair & clothes.. same with the fabric masks, you should wash it & not reuse it before it's washed.. I understand the idea, but from an germ-spreading/aseptic point of view, it's really not a good idea..
@beadaholique3 жыл бұрын
I think you're right about the safest way to use masks. Ideally they shouldn't be taken off until you're ready to throw the mask in a trashcan or a washing bag and then wash your hands. Plenty of people still aren't wearing masks at all though, and we're taking a harm reduction perspective here. If making a mask a little easier to potentially take on and off for brief periods helps someone become comfortable enough with the idea of wearing one in public for the first time then that person will be much safer then they were before.
