Really enjoy your channel and projects. BTW, if you sit the clamped boards on the floor with the glue joints running top to bottom, the glue will run down the joints which have to be cleaned any way, rather across the entire board. Much easier clean up.

I have never seen using a grain pattern like that! They are so beautiful to look at! But I believe I would hang them on the wall in place of a picture. There is no way I would ever draw a knife over that wood! That would make a dining room table you could get several thousand dollars for! You'd have to sell them to your neighbors because they would be a little pricey to ship! You have really great ideas!

Thank you, I appreciate your woman’s point of view. I have wanted to buy a laser engraver for both my husband and I. Our anniversary is in April. He is going super excited when we get it. It’s something he has wanted for over 20 years, I thought we needed more money, I mean tons more! I’m empress with the everything you can make with these. I seriously have been saving up for several years. I bought the Longer 40w with a rotary attachment for under 1,200! I wanted to share with you how much you have helped us! Cheers

The walnut board is fantastic, well done. I've just ordered some walnut with sap wood and the seller, gave me a discount. I would like to say that I am going to copy your idea but knowing me, it will be one of many projects that I buy wood for and never get around to making. BYW I see you are selling your own wood finish so now you need to start promoting it. Stay fabulous G

I use a LOT of Sweet Gum wood. I have a ton of sweet gum trees on my property, so it's nothing to mill a few each year into 2x8 for projects the following year (after it dries) Sweet Gum has very dark mixed with very light wood. So the patterns are wonderful. The old timers around eastern KY here call sweet gum "satin walnut" It's not used commercially because it shrinks and moves so much, you have to mill it twice. But it's worth it in the end.

Skyler, really enjoyed this video and your approach to design. You’re right that each board made this way is unique. It’s interesting that we take the same approach by chamfering all four edges. I use this as a selling point with customers as you can grab it from any angle and no need for handles. Great work!

You can also use alcohol to raise the grain in your wood. It dries in a few minutes and does the same thing. It would save you a ton of drying time, if you were making a lot of them at the same time. I've worked in a cabinet shop most of my life, in the finishing department, and we've done that. It also helps color uniformity, when staining something that might have lighter spots in the piece your staining.
@woodworkingwithSkyler9 ай бұрын
That’s an awesome tip. Will definitely try that
@jdwhitcraft15339 ай бұрын
@@woodworkingwithSkyler, also, you don't have to wet it to much. All you need to do is wet it, just enough, to change the color of the wood. That will also save on drying time.

you should build yourself a cabinet for your planer . no vacume needed the blower in the planer does the job . all you need is a vent with screen in the side of the cabinet and attach a 4 in section of hose from the planer to cabinet ... no more mess in the shop. and empty the cabinet when its full..i think you can find the plan on youtube sorry i wish i could remember the site .

Hello there. Was wondering what laser would you recommend. One that wouldn't be used every day. That can be purchased in Ireland. Love your channel. And thanks
@woodworkingwithSkyler9 ай бұрын
Hi Michael. Depends on what you want to use it for. If it’s for engraving and cutting, then the Xtool S1 is the best laser I ever tested and the one I primarily use in my shop. If you are low on space and want something portable and small and never need to engrave anything bigger then 4x 16 and don’t need cutting capabilities. Basically just for engraving small things of putting your logo on something then the Xtool F1 is fantastic. Overall I don’t think you will regret getting the S1. If you do decide to purchase please use the link from any of my Xtool videos. At no extra cost to you, I earn a small commission.

Hi, I'd just like to thank you for your videos! You explain, in easy to understand concepts, how to make really exceptional projects. I appreciate it very much. I recently learned of a way to clean dried glue, that I thought I'd share! It's a simple solution of 1 part each of water, vinegar and acetone! Here's the link to Jim Heavey's video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZvIqGSGlpuie5Y I think you'll like it!
