Mine just arrived today. I’m making baseboards and they are long. 12’ and more. Trying to keep them against the fence and just as importantly, downward pressure is everything. I made about 40’ the other day and had to go back and run them through a second time because the pressure was not consistent. I made a lot of effort to keep it against the fence with consistent downward pressure and realized I needed help. Can’t wait to try these out tomorrow.

Raising the subject if her attire is perfectly reasonable. Why is it that so many women refuse to wear more appropriate wear in so many activities. Would we not raise our eyebrows if male presenters resorted to similar tactics?

Thanks for the video. I have found that the ability to control cutter speed on large diameter tooling can make a big difference. When cutting raised panels and such, making a roughing cut can help expensive router and shaper tooling last. I would love to see you build a larger / better version of your sled. I have spent a lifetime working in production wood shops and have seen very few store bought fixtures or jigs. When I was an apprentice i was first taught to make perfectly straight and square shelves then my workbench. As I learned I would build jigs and fixtures. After 8,000 hours (4 years ) on the job I passed my journeymen exams with my pay increased accordingly. I had to asinine these fun jobs to the apprentice. Now working in my home shop my grandson and I make what ever we can for our selves…. Keep it sharp, keep it safe and keep it fun!

Hej Just found your page and have been thoroughly enjoying your detailed AND super informative videos. I was curious though how deep you can engrave with the S1? Thinking for future projects as I am still waiting on my machine to arrive, the depth if it's possible to use epoxy after and watching your cat inlay video. I have searched but can not find that info.

Is the 40 watt laser worth the increased cost? Is a big cost adjustment. Also, you should get some bench cookies from Rockler. They will keep the wood in place while you are sanding.

Great project, Well done. Consider using a Silicone Pastry Mat for a gluing surface. They come in many sizes, nothing sticks to them, they always lay flat no matter if you fold or roll them for storage. They are kind of "Grippy" so they don't slide around. I use a small one and a HUGE one.

That’s really nice and like the added inlay. You are definitely right about wenge having small pits even after sanding. I made a lazy Susan for someone, had to do a lot of sanding thru all the grits to 320. Wish I would have known about using the sand paper after applying the oil. Thanks for the advice! Will definitely use it next time.
@woodworkingwithSkyler11 күн бұрын
I found the sandpaper trick works best with a drying finish. If I use a little oil based polyurethane and sand with it, it makes a sludge that fills the pores. Then sand with 400 grit and apply a oil based finish
