Pure tung oil is by far the best. Completely non toxic snd not made from minerals. lasts better under washing ect. Only down side is absolutely no sheen.
@seanwilson471Күн бұрын
I've used it in UK for 30 years. My cutting boards are that age too.

That’s why I make and sell my carnauba wax. It’s just two ingredients: pure tung oil and carnauba wax. Wax cutting board gives a beautiful sheen

Good thinking cutting the springs but I did not want to give up the shorted spots so looked around my shop. I had some 10 awg wire with 7/16" diameter plastic insulation and found that a 3/16" piece was just right to go between the set screw and spring. I tightened the set screws then backed off half a turn and my sled is good and snug.

Thank you for the tips in this video! I'm just a beginner woodworker, but I've read that if your piece is wider than long, a crosscut sled or miter gauge should be used to reduce likelihood of kickback. but at 18:29:00 it looks like you are cutting without either. Is there some special exception that you are able to make these 45 degree cuts without additional equipment? Skill? Or just additional risk?
@woodworkingwithSkyler3 күн бұрын
@@StephenYen that is a very good observation. The “rule is you should never cross cut a piece that is long more then doubled the width. My board is 12 in wide and 17.5 long . So technically I could do even longer, up to 24

do you hae to use the sponges or can I just apply with a cloth? Is one coat enough on walnut countertop? How does it protect against spills
@woodworkingwithSkyler3 күн бұрын
Cloth is fine but will absorb more product. It’s very durable and when (if) you need to touch up, you can spot touch up and you won’t notice the spot. No need to sand the whole thing like you would with polyurethane

I'd bet those are a great seller. Nice bandsaw! I just bought one of those super-cheap $150 WEN bandsaws. The thickest I can cut is 3 1/2". I mainly bought it to cut plywood scraps from my laser cutters, so it works well enough for me. Osmo? Too rich for my blood.
