Lovely case and aging! If you plan on cutting a lot of polystyrene or foam for future projects, you can get a hot wire cutter for around £20ish, less mess but more toxicity if you don't step outside.

Definitely making a guitar case ASAP. I've had my B.C. RIch & my bass for 20+ years with no cases. An official BC Rich case costs $300+ !!! No way!!!!! Absolutely not!!!! I can definitley make one for under $100

Lovely looking case, perfect for the guitar. I recently made e plywood box, it still seemed to have a preferred direction for planing. It could just be because it's cheep B&Q ply.

It should only come down to the outside layers. Going across the grain can cause tear. Try chamfering the very edge with plane first, then flatten down the centre.

It was an absolute pleasure to watch your skilled work. One concern though what about moisture , and wood warpage. I did not notice any type of Protection over the wood as a sealant. That beautiful work would be an absolute shame if given a wet climate and over the course of time to discover that the plywood had begun to split or warp due to moisture seepage. Hope you will give that piece of treasure a generous coat or two or three of a awesome wood sealer. It’s available over here in the States. And it is called Aqua coat extreme polyurethane. And again you may have something comparable or perhaps even better there in the U.K. but please put something on that piece of beauty mate. Again it was a pleasure to have enjoyed your video. It’s protected on the outside with the ‘stain’ I used. Don’t worry, this is stored in a dry place! As for wood warping, all the different directions and structure will hold in place perfectly 👍

The sidewalls were 18mm ply and the top and I think the top and bottom were 6mm ply. The length and width are totally dependent on the guitar.

Very nice! I've been thinking about doing my own case for a while! So this was great! 👍 How heavy is it compared to a regular hard case? How thick were the plywood and do you think it could be thinner? Thank you 🙏

Thanks. I used 18mm on the sides and 4mm top and 6mm bottom. I don’t think I would go any thinner to be honest. The weight isn’t bad. It was 11kg as guitar and case fully packaged and protected in a cardboard box for posting.
