Hi Diane, First of all thank you so much for your brilliant and easy tutorials. It's always a pleasure watching you and listening to your calm voice. I actually tried your kids block for my measurements and my measured center front is about 5,5 cm longer than the constructed cf. I double checked all steps and think I followed you instructions correctly. Your last step in the video is a possible adjustment of max 1 cm. I also guess 5,5 cm is a little much. It's about a men's pattern and the center back is 44 cm and the center front is 45cm. I'd be so happy for your help. Á bientôt, Michael

Hi Diane I’m sorry for this i know is bee a year since you create this video but I’m not drafting mine. Please my question is my chest and waist measurements are the same which is 55cm, now on the waistline where I have to divide 55 by 4 and add 1 cm to it which will be 14.75cm now from the Center back I can put the measure on the line but from the Center front there’s no room for me to add measurements down please can you reply me back and let me know what to do. Bonjour Jade, That's a good question. The woman recipe, is the one I learn when I was a student over 30 years ago. I think we raise a little more so we get a little longer front to compensate for the bust volume. The kids recipe I did it myself keeping the logic of the body and using the body measurements of the charts.(I also use it for men and to make woman t-shirt) Also from one pattern to and other you could see little difference, nothing to 1 cm. Hi Diane, this is a great tutorial, thank you! I just have a Q about the shoulder measurement: you are making size 4 bodices and create a shoulder length of 7.75cm. On your measurement chart, size 4 is listed as 6.5cm for shoulder length. Why have you used a longer m'ment and which should I use when drafting my own patterns?

Hello Fiona, Usually ease at shoulder is 5 mm but kids have to be confortable, I try it on my little on and decide to add a little more. I did the recipe after making adjustment. Also I will send you in ETSY a new body measurement chart I did where I combine all documents I had. Size 2 to 16 Diane

I came across the same problem. There must be some mistake. Also, the chart Diane is using in the video is different from that on her website. My final block in respective size seems to be very small (narrow in the body - not all children are Twiggy figure).

Hello Maha, The recipe is 4 cm, BUT, fashion now is more fitted, and also a lot of fabric have stretchy fiber, so in my PDF I wrote 2 to 4 cm. Most of younger people are not use to have ease, when buying clothes, they think it's just too big. Diane

Hello Mark,Yes you could use the recipe to make t-shirt, but it's not fitted (bust & waist)It's also a good block to start with to make shirt and coat since they do not require dart adjustment. The enlargement you need depend on the fit you want but usually, a shirt is a first layer of garment so you don't need it (optional maybe drop under arm) jacket is a 2nd layer so you should grade up one size and coat is a 2nd or 3rd layer so you should grade up 1 or 2 size.
