Having 4 daughters you'd think I'd know how to make a bow. Well, I don't! I love the instructions here, though some of it goes a bit fast for my brain. The only caution I would give is to not use a wide, thick burlap type of ribbon. It makes it really difficult, though the simple bow works pretty well. I will definitely try again with thinner ribbon the next time!

I am a beginning crafter. I love the 4th bow. It just looks cools. So I tried to make it. I learned that a 2 1/2 wide ribbon (wired) doesn't work well. I think if I used a 1 1/2 wide ribbon it would have been so much better. It looks OK but not great and since I spent so much money on the ribbon, it's going to have to do. I would suggest you say how wide the ribbon is that you are using. Thank you so much for the bow making. I now have several options to use so that not all my bows look alike.

I learned how to make a bow years ago but I always struggled with it because you basically folded it back and forth all in your hands, tie it in the middle (without letting go of your bunch) and fluffing it. I have small hands and it was always hard to hang onto and back then I never thought of using pipe cleaner or move over girlfriend - zip ties (best tip ever - thank you!). I tied it with the ribbon which was hard to get snug. Also back then (I'm sure dating myself...lol) wired ribbon wasn't a thing so you had to get your loops right. The whole thing was so frustrating. I needed a bow today for a gift that I tucked in a really nice storage box. I tied a criss cross ribbon around the box and then I wanted a bow to go over the criss cross section on the top. I found your tutorial and walla! I love the ways you showed us how to make bows! So much easier and quicker...and a better end result! Thank you so much!!! I will not longer be intimidated by bow making!
