How to Make a Brushless Camera Gimbal

In this video I am going to make a brushless camera gimbal.
This is a complete guide to make a brushless camera or smartphone gimbal using commonly available hardware. The concept is to use the momentum of a motor spinning at high speed to stabilise the platform.
To keep the project simple and cheap I have extracted the brushless motor from an old high speed PC fan. A heavy nut is glued to the motor can so to achieve a high momentum.
The structure of this homemade gimbal is made out of PVC fittings. A rubber grip is added on the handle.

Motor with fan will help more I think. The air from fan will reduce the unnecessary movement of gimble.

Doubt the spinning motor is doing anything beneficial, all its gonna do is make the bottom want to sway more (if you have ever held a motor with a flywheel it wants to stay in its previous position as you move it) and you are probably better off going with a more traditional and balanced fly cam

the position of your motor is wrong ... the fly wheel shoud be at the center of gimble balance rings if you're working with one flywheel only, then u wheel get enough angular momentum to oppose the shakes.

I went to your blogspot link and it was very helpful. But can you let us know the size of the bearings please? Its impossible to tell from a video or photos and the link to the bearings is no longer the one you put up but takes us to a generic bearing page. Thanks. I am surprised at the facetious comments below. I am a professional photographer and I use a MOZA Air for most of my DSLR shooting but it does not work with a video camera. So for some of my work, I just need a gimbal, and this is a gimbal just like those that have been made for centuries to keep things on level with the horizon on boats. I will use my monopod that has a small tripod foot that will provide weight as well as allowing me to put the whole thing on the ground when I need to fiddle with settings. If you start the recording and start moving slowly and evenly before you approach the actual point where you want to start the video, you will be able to cut out the initial sway in post. Then with better cameras you can have the camera internal "stabilization" turned on and add more if necessary in post production. So come on, give this guy a break. He has certainly helped me make a simple gimbal that will get me what I need. I just want to know what sized bearings to buy.
