But is it a siege weapon capable of flinging 90kg projectiles over 300 meters?

Uhm...that would need a weight of 850 kg (1700 lb) dropping 2 meters, assuming efficiency of 100%... in case of a more realistic 65% it would have to be 1350 kg or 2700 lb

Modification ideas: 1) A rope going from the release point to the arm that reaches tension right as the arm reaches it's vertical position (or slightly earlier). This will allow trajectory to be modified more accurately. Also, attach a strong spring to the rope for a slightly less abrupt stop. 2) There was still a lot of flex in the top of the catapult. Perhaps a crossbeam would be useful if it were to be padded so as to not damage the throwing arm. 3) Maybe try a sling attachment for the throwing head. in my experience, a sling attachment can throw things much more accurately than a scoop.

A fortuitous build on the day of the (film festival) premiere of the Netflix film Outlaw King. It opens with a complex 8 minute single shot scene culminating in a catapult destroying Stirling castle.
