I have to say, I’ve been taught so many ways of doing binding, and I can never get that “A” they say to do at the end. So I always just machine stitch my binding. Till I found this video. Folding the end first then nesting is so much easier than the other way, and I did my first binding by hand after 5 years of learning how to quilt. I actually enjoy binding now. Thank you so much for this

This is the first project I've done any kind of quilting and binding like this on. A lady at church asked if I would make her a walker/wheelchair caddy and after watching a lot of videos I settled on this one. I'm using up some jelly roll strips for the binding and the pockets are made with denim from jeans that didn't fit anymore. She said just tell her how much she owes and she'll pay me. If I set a price that would pay for my time she wouldn't be able to afford it. 😂 Between the leftovers from other projects, a hand-me-down pre-quilted piece big enough for the backing, and recycled jeans, I don't have a lot of money in materials. I started a log cabin quilt about a year ago but never got past making the blocks. Now I feel like maybe I can finish it.

Sounds like a beautiful caddy you made for her! I bet she loved it! We believe in you! That log cabin quilt will be amazing! We appreciate your support and comment! 😊 - Abby

Thank you so much , just what I was looking for. I made one that turned out really cute. My twist on the pattern was to sew the bottom and the top of the pockets to form a tube. I love this and the Fabrics are gorgeous but how what I put a stiff backing on both sides so it would stand up on its own in the display you have it over some small hand cart to hold it up but it would be neat if you could stand it up like a teepee how would you add a pocket to the back and what would you insert to make it stiff
@ShabbyFabrics8 жыл бұрын
+Ruth Freeman you may be able to use stiff interfacing to make it stand but with supplies added, it probably wouldn't hold up. I think you would need something under it no matter what to make it upright. Adding a pocket to the back would be done the exact same way as adding a pocket to the front. Thank you for watching!

thinking if you don't want to do binding on the finished portion you could add another layer of fabric same size and leave a spot to turn and then top stitch.
@ShabbyFabrics7 жыл бұрын
You could absolutely do that but you will lose a bit of your area in the seam allowance as well as have quite a bit of bulk at the edges. If you don't mind those things, it is a great technique :)
