I am having trouble with the zipper tabs. Here you said to sew it a 1/2 inch but when I fold it to sew it under the zipper the fabric doesn’t cover all 1/2 inch in the back.

First I want to say, I really love this design! It’s so cute. I used the video and followed the written instructions on your blog post. There are a couple of things I think would be REALLY helpful for you to mention in your video. (1). How to insert the lining on the smaller pocket; (2) How to get your sewing machine to handle sewing in the D ring loops (mine WOULD NOT. I had to make the loops 3 inches by 1 inches and my machine was still iffy about the whole thing; (3) Tell viewers TO flip the D-rings and fabric loops IN before sewing the bag together. I sewed my D rings into the inside of the bag the first time and had to deconstruct it to repair. Also, the inner lining of my bag is not attached to the other, which is really weird, and I am still not sure what happened there. Thank you for sharing this design and lesson, I just think the process could have been explained more clearly. If the $5 pattern is much better explained, I would consider purchasing it, but I am wary the instructions may be equally as vague in important places. Please let me know.

I purchased your pattern/directions on Etsy. I am having difficulty finding 8 inch zippers. I see 7 inch... 9 inch. Where is the best place to purchase these?

Use a 9 inch zipper and then cut it down to 8 inches. The pattern has zipper tabs or seams on each side so the zipper will be finished on each side.

On the website instructions it says to cut 2 lining backs, 1 upper front and 1 lower front. However, on the body pattern piece it asks for 3 lining and also 1 lining for the upper and lower pattern pieces. Please could you clarify if I have a wasted lining piece or at what point it gets sewn on. Many thanks

From the outer fabric: 1 back, 1 upper front, 1 lower front, and 1 strap. From the lining fabric: 2 back, 1 upper front, 1 lower front, 2 zipper tabs, and 2 loops. You don't need the thrid lining piece.

I don’t see where the third lining piece is used. When I put together following the exact instructions I end up not having a finished pocket for the front zipper.

Why do I need three lining pieces for the "Body"?

so that the small front pocket has a back. if you don't have three lining pieces the small front pocket opens into the big main pocket.

@HeatherHandmade But I still haven't seen where it gets added. Even in your instructions, it says 2 back pieces not 3. I'm SO confused.
