Josie Billie I used 5 yards to make it, for the waist line measurement, it depends on your measurement for instance your waist is 36 + 4 inches for seam allowance which is 40. Then you will use half of the waist measurement to cut it, half of the waist measurement is 20 inches so divide 20 by 4 will give you 5 . You will use that 5 to cut your skirt , and make sure you cut out 2 of that for front and back.

so if I want a full skirt just one piece , I don't want to cut two sets of material , when I fold the cloth in 4 what measurement should I use for the waist

Anoushka Ruby you fold into 4 then divide your waist measurement by 6.28 , that is the formula for a full circle but you won’t be able to achieve a long length skirt. You be able to achieve a long length by using this method I used.

How did you get the cut line in the back where you inserted the zipper? I saw the 2 sides that you sewed but the way you folded it doesn't seem like there would be another raw edges that would need sewing. Thanks for your help

I'm thinking she used one of the side seams as the back seam to insert the zipper. With the printed fabric you cant see the seam because it's camouflaged with the print. Other than that a seam would have to be cut down the back piece.
