Andrew : Great video! Can you show me how you set the stone next? Also I have learned so much from you in the past four months! I am a retired police officer that has always wanted to learn how to silversmith. I have purchased all the rudimentary equipment including a Smith Little Torch but because I reside in Medina, Ohio USA have no one in my area who gives lessons so I depend on your videos for instruction! I have made a number of coin bezels and bails but would like to start making rings, pendants and bracelets! Please keep the videos coming! Wish you lived close by so I could take lessons directly from you! Keep the great work! Ron Medina, Ohio USA

Hey Andrew, I'm currently sitting at at home watching your vids because of the Coronavirus. And ironically enough I happen to live in a city named "Corona" here in California! (Not joking!) Lol 🤔 Ok so i know it's not as glamorous as working with gold, silver, ect... but do you ever work on primarily copper pieces? Bracelets? Thanks again
@Ken_Dalton4 жыл бұрын
Corona town haha that couldn't be any more appropriate eh? 😂I'm from Ireland,.. Iv never seen Andrew work in copper. But if u had something in mind nearly all the principals are the same and same techniques man. I like workin with copper when I started out bcoz it was cheap an I actually had a bunch, but silver is actually not that expensive if u were thinkin of gettin started u can buy, sheet or wire from places like Rio Grande over state side. Sometimes Andrew don't reply to comments, so I just thought Id try help u out.. Good luck keepin safe from Corona in Corona lol, 🍀

I am a 71 year old new to this hobby lady. I have a "My Little Torch" that i have hooked up to the 14 ounce disposable oxygen and propane canisters. The tanks also have the adapters that allow the hoses to connect. I am having trouble getting the torch to work . I cannot hear gas escape nor does a flame ignite when put to a flame. Can you go through a step by step process of setting up my torch? I have been enjoying your program and it has inspired many future projects. Thank you. Christine

Maybe you already covered but just in case: there is a way to also make a prong setting from a flat sheet to avoid also the soldering of prongs? (I still learning) can you make a video about it? I suppose the trick part in on the measurements and I think could be a way to add designs and be more creative. 😊

Great Video Andrew but as a newcomer (VERY) I would like to see a video where you tell the world about the tools you use, where you buy the materials etc. It could include even the basic stuff like hammers, files, saws and blades, burrs etc. In this video you used a brush to clean the piece but what is it? Love this demo, Andrew! What a great technique for a round stone. Can this same method be adapted for oval shaped stones? If so, what modifications would need to be made regarding shape and size of the stock (i.e., Square vs. round, size - your demo used 3mm square wire), length of cuts for the prongs in relation to the size of the oval stone, for example an 8x10 mm oval? Would love to see this method demonstrated for oval stones.

Love this video! In fact, I’m heading down to my shop to give this a try on some round 6 gauge fine silver that I’ve run through my rolling mill and is now perfectly square. I do have a question, one which you really didn’t cover much in the video and that’s ~ approximately how much material are you removing with the three sided file once you’ve finished sawing? It appeared you were pretty aggressive with that file and it looked like you removed quite a bit of material but you really didn’t elaborate on it. Can you help a girl out? Btw ~ I’ve watched all of your videos and all of them have most definitely helped me become a much better metalsmith! Thank you so much for sharing ~ Teri
