i actually hated the texture of clay so much that i learned how to 3D sculpt using blender just to do it that way instead. its pretty easy to get patterns from it as well

A python? That is pretty creative! I would suggest to explore on the internet and try to find someone with a base. I you find, it is just to start working! If not then you should take inspiration from e.g. Pinterest, or just google. Then you can try to draw it, or just start making! You should still watch tutorials on making the rest (Not if you are already pro at it of course). But thats all I got to say! I hope this helps in some way, and that I’m not too late. But otherwise, I wish you good luck!

Hi! Ive posted this question on a community post but it hasn't been answered and Im genuinely wondering if it'd be a good idea to sculpt a a head base (at least the face) out of foam clay or not?

with how long the foam clay takes to dry, it's probably not a good idea? the head might sag or collapse under its own weight and it'd take a lot longer than sculpting with upholstery foam (and probably longer than sculpting with EVA foam like this). i also imagine it would quickly get expensive.

I recommend making an EVA foam base (maybe a very rough one) and then sculpt the foam clay shapes on it. That could work, it will just take more days to fully dry but it won't be heavy
