Lods is a data file in the data folder. Kn5 name must match the name of the file INSIDE the LODS.ini

when I save my kn5 file in kseditor, it says "error null texture on material blackplastic.001 texture txdiffuse export failed" and then wont update the car in the game. if you could help, thatd be great!

Go to the materials tab at the bottom all the ones highlighted red don’t have textures and you’ll need to manually assign them or make sure you’ve got all the textures copied correctly from the two cars and load both persistences

It is because you need to save the fbx file on 0.01 scale instead of 1.00

If you renamed the kn5 you have to rename in the lod file in your data folder

@@Radayeah. so far it doesn't work. coming back after a few years and doing google search, there's still no info online. Also, when importing the fbx to blender, one loses the empties and textures. I downloaded a trial version of max and upon import, things are still the same as years ago. all the empties and textures are still there. I suspect it has to do with import settings that blender doesn't have. Sucks because 3dmax was never user friendly for me. I used max before I tried blender. Blenders movement control and mesh editing are way easier.

looks like there might be a way. magically found a video. it requires the classic 3dsimmed. So far it looks like: kn5 to 3dsimmed to blender using the binary fbx export option from 3dsimm.
