Thank you for the tutorial, but what do I do if Kartmaker simply doesn't run no matter how much I click on it? Putting the character folder does make it into a wad but that's about it Also it'd be nice if it mentioned how to alter the properties if the sprite layout was changed.

I know im super late but I might have a fix, I am assuming that you are saying the sprites are white boxes instead of your sprites or at least are surrounded by that, if that is the case you should put a solid color behind them and then that color in the properties file for transparent colors. I am assuming there is a way to do it on the transparent template too but I personally dont know how

you probably figured it out already, but you have to drag your character's file onto the exe and then let go of left click. a command menu will open for a split second before a new file will appear, which will be named something like this: somethingtheOC.wad

hey, I know it's been a year since this video came out, but when I try to load my mod, it says "R_Addskins: syntax error in S_SKIN lump# 11(S_SKIN) in WAD mods\KC_SS-Mario.wad" I know it's something to do with the S_SKIN lump, but on the 11th line of code in it, it's just the win sound. I don't know what's causing it because the win sound I put is clearly in the WAD.

How did you activate the mod? What button did you press with the wad file selected? If I try anything else other than hit "enter" (enter doesn't work), it appears in the search bar and the game thinks I'm searching for something containing that letter and hides my wad file

you have to reinstall the game cause it corrupted something and now you can't use wads this happened because dind't use the palette of the character select screen as the colors in your character

Can somebody help me out? I filled the whole sprite sheet (inluding all of the portraits, hurt sprites and normal sprites), but the portraits still show as black blocks with gray question marks. What do i do? Edit: Also, everytime i put my custom sounds into the folder, the sounds wont play. Even if i turn the OGG into an WAV and try it out again, it won't.

I had the same problem with the question mark My fix was to grab the sprites from my original sheet, and paste them over a new "example" one, i believe the problem was caused by using multiple custom transparent colors, but im not sure EDIT: I got the problem after altering some lines in the properties.txt, maybe something in there is making it fail

I have some questions about kartmaker 1. How come the sprites for the character icons are just a giant black box with a question mark? I heard from some people it has something to do with certain lines of code. If so which ones? 2. Some of my sprites have random blue pixels on them but when I check the sprites they look completely fine what should I do? 3. When I changed the sound effects they didn't change in game. Again does this have something to do with a line of code or does the sound effect have to be a certain length? If anybody can help with this that would be greatly appreciated

make sure you used the correct shade of green, and put the default color you want in the text file.(it has to be the exact name as one of the colors you can select in SRB2 Kart) That should make it that you can change the color ingame.

@@cool_kid-ot7cc in the properties text file there is something called "prefcolor": "red" where it says "red" you can change that to any color palette name that's in SRB2 kart (wich you can see at the bottom of the chracter select screen) The way I'd do it is: Draw the sprites for your character and make sure the part you want to be able change colors is the shades of green that are on the default kart. Once you've made your first test version go in SRB2 kart and on the character select screen find which color best fits your character (like blue for sonic etc.) Then once you're ready to make the final version go into the properties file and change "red" to whatever the name of the color is you picked. (For example for Sonic I would change to "blue")

Make sure they are OGG files and not MP3s if they still aren't heard try making them louder my first characters sound effects where way to quiet to hear if that doesn't work re-record or export them again maybe something went wrong while exporting or recording

sadly no I've never had it happen to myself so I don't know how to fix it. All I can really think of is that maybe something went wrong when downloading kartmaker causing it to not open. If it's not that then maybe it's your operating system (I have windows 10) but that's all I can think of remember I'm just guessing here so I could be completely wrong. You could maybe try reaching out to the creator of kartmaker to see if they know.

I don't think you could do that with kartmaker so you'd need to get really technical so I can't really help you as I don't even know how to make a model sorry
