Fantastic works parade and doesn’t cost hardly anything. Tuna fish is only about $.60 a can and you can make four traps. Thank you so much.

This works for any pest! We were at a wedding reception that was outdoors. The yellow jackets were everywhere! I started making these traps out of empty soda bottles and putting some punch, hard-boiled egg and water, or hamburger meat floating in water. I added a few drops of dish soap and hung them in the trees. Soon the number of yellow jackets at the receprion dropped. When we cleaned up, almost all of them were full of yellow jackets and flies!

Two suggestions: 1) Add a 1/2 tsp dish soap to the bottle so the flys sink into the water 2) Cut the lid COMPLETELY OFF the can. So easy to cut your finger by leaving it on like that.
@terebrown28922 жыл бұрын
IMHO, a couple of drops of detergent is sufficient... All you have to do is reduce the surface tension so they sink, can't get out.

I saw another video where the guy got a small bucket of water and 6 cracked eggs. After the eggs have fermented in the water for 3 weeks itll smell like a straight up holocaust which the flies love. If you use the rotten egg water mixture as bait you'll find that you trap will catch more flies.

For in-doors, all I do is get a small bowl. Put 1/2 cup water in it. Then put 1-2 ounces of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of sugar in it. Lastly, 1-2 drops of dish washing liquid. I then put the small bowl under a light in the kitchen. I catch each and every fly 100% of the time within 20 minutes. I use an old cottage cheese container with a lid. Once I catch the fly/flies, I fish them out, put the lid on the container and put it under my kitchen sink for later use. Why waste the ingredients
@callyscraftycorner24633 жыл бұрын
Do you put on the lid with a hole in it or do you leave it open to catch the flies
@adamwarlock35303 жыл бұрын
@@callyscraftycorner2463 Actually, I strain out the bugs with an old reusable coffee filter now, then put the solution in a jar with a lid on it so it doesnt evaporate. I then pull the solution out the next time I need it.

Just save the juice when you make tuna salad. you don't have to put the fish in the fly trap, just the juice would be fine and maybe add a raw egg as well.

Crack a couple eggs, add some water and stir, then throw it in a trap, like if you’ve bought one before or make one like they do. Put it outside, and it’ll work better as the eggs spoil (🤮).

A nicely prepared dog turd is a delicacy, because finding the perfect turd is not easy..It has to fit in the hole ! It's time consuming walking the yard using a ruler measuring each turd, and that's why it's only served only on Saturdays during fly karaoke night and Sundays after Church ...!

Okay. I've made 4 of these bottle traps and mixed molasses, scallops, shrimp, raw eggs, cooked eggs, (we have chickens) sugar, dish soap, can't forget that, some chicken patties, the liquid absorber thing on the bottom of packaged meats, uhm...veggie scraps. These are just what I remember. They are placed around outside in sun light. It has been a week and I have caught maybe a dozen. What else should I try without spending a lot $$$? Yeah! I have lots of tuna. Thanks for reminding me...uhm...should I use the oil or water packed? 🙄
@stykytte2 жыл бұрын
water packed tuna, the oil prevents the bacteria that produce the bad smells from being able to access oxygen and prevents evaporation of water molecules that carry the smell - it still works but not quite as well. Cheapest thing you can put in one of these traps is urine or feces, best mix I've ever seen was Water, Eggs, Vinegar and stale Urine - that's what the local university students are using to great effect, I replaced the urine with manky cat food left in the bowls after feeding time and it worked about as well, funnily enough fresh cat food doesn't have the same effect, needs to be licked a bit first to get all the nasty bacteria from the cats mouths on it first.

Venus fly traps are incredibly hard to take care of. Everytime I've bought them they've inevitably died no matter how much research I did to take care of it. I'd rather just take the 2 liter bottle from this video filled with some water and raw eggs. It smells like a damn concentration camp but has left my house fly free for years along as I actually leave a fresh trap outside.

What is the point of marking the bottle first? Can't you just do it without marking it at all? you simply just cut a hole anywhere you want in the top of the bottle, it's still going to work the same, marking the bottle doesn't need to be done. It's pretty obvious the Flies don't care where the holes are so what is the point of actually marking the bottle first?
