In this video I build a stand for my headphones. I go over how I came up with the design. How to create compound miters or bevels more easily. How to use tapes as clamps. And more. I also talk problems I had in fabricating this piece, and how I thought around them. In the beginning and end I touch on music and art. Hope you all enjoy!

I gotta say, I really love the sort of modern woodworking you got going. not just in your ideas or in you incredibly constructed videos, but simply your persona, I guess. I've recently gotten into simple woodworking ( rings ) and I'm loving it, but to be honest I haven't found many young men near my age to fully sink into the hobby. You're an inspiring man and I'm loving all your videos and content. God Bless!

I design various giftware ranges and manufacturing tooling for a drinks company in London. I always loved and very much miss being in the workshop in university, your garage is the dream for further down the line when I'm out of London. Where in the US are you based? Can I ask, is it sketchup you use predominantly for your CAD?
@Foureyes.Furniture
@Foureyes.Furniture 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Duncan. Nice. That's good that you're in an indisustry where you can use your skills/creativity, and I'm sure you'll have opportunities to get back to the things you want to design down the road. I'm in Southern California, and sketchup is the only CAD I use. Its either that or pencil and paper.

Always find myself coming back here for inspiration in design and ideas! Take away all the fancy tools and what you get to see is a true artisan with the sensibilities of a poet and a talent in woodworking that's unparalleled. Thanks for this! This is a really cool design. And no need to worry about the quality of the music. It is way better than most woodworking videos here on youtube. I must say though, I was a little surprised when you cut the tapers at the beginning. My instinct would be to build it all and glue it up. then cut the tapers. That way you don't have to worry about how to hold the pieces while you are working, and the tapers are guaranteed to lign up.
@Foureyes.Furniture
@Foureyes.Furniture 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Neistridlar. I thought about doing that...Too big for the table saw, but you could do it on the band saw. I was worried that I would get some kind of crazy tear out or something though. If I had to make multiple. I'd definitely try it out and be willing to sacrifice one...b/c that would save a ton of time and make it simple.

@Foureyes.Furniture
@Foureyes.Furniture 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I often struggle with that when describing things. A lot of cabinets I make are technically 75* and 105*, but saying 15 less/more than 90 seems to describe it better.

Have to say, I have always been a fan of Woodworking videos, and living vicariously through them. I've watched several different channels, and was recommended to you Via KZbin. After watching a couple of your videos, I must say, I have fallen in love with your style. The voice over with the soft acoustic music in the back makes it for easy listening, as well as easier to retain the information I learn. When my paycheck hits, you will be receiving another Patreon Subsciber or whatever the name is. You have amazed me. Continue the good work. Would love to have a chat with you in the future. Cheers.

That's a damn-sight better than the one I made a few years ago- I took a couple kitchen worktop samples ( 20x15x4cm ) and screwed them together to make an inverted T shape, then finished them with a few coats of Danish Oil. Crude but effective- I think I may have to make a new stand after seeing this video, now that I have a band saw with a tilting table...

Been watching your vids for awhile now. Love the woodwork, and your dry sense of humor. And though I understand the patreon plugs/etc, when they fall mid-video it interrupts the whole vibe that makes your vids unique. I don't read your vids as how-tos, but visually interesting inspirational videos forwoodwork and related philosophies. Keep up the good work, but think about why you make you tube content. If the answer is the same as when you made your first video then carry on. But if you're unsure, then go back to the start. I'll be watching regardless.

Hey Maffew. Thanks. I get what you're saying. I try to keep them short and fairly natural...from my experimentation, and reading that I've done, the ads just work so much better in the middle. I'm thinking of ways where I can make them more entertaining. Just gotta get creative with it somehow.

Hey Paul...thanks man. It's true. of the 18 faces on this project, I think 14 of them have a weird angle cut in.
