If you have old clothes, you can also cut that into strips and braid rope with it then use that to make the net. I have one like that for my rats and it's great.

You can buy T shirt yarn too. I usually wait until it's on offer and stock up. If you crochet then it's quicker to chain stitch the "cords" instead of braiding, but one ball of yarn will make a hanging bed, a couple of climbing nets and several climbing ropes. I have lots of different colour coordinated sets lol ... Just swap them out when cleaning and throw them in the washing machine 👍

@@Energetic.Rodents with all the other cloth materials in their cage (hammocks, cage liners, beds, etc); you can either do a normal cycle with unscented, dye free, hypoallergenic detergent (I like tide free and simple), or a sanitize cycle, but keep in mind it might damage it a bit due to heat and spin. If you are afraid of that you can buy these laundry bags made for when tossing delicate clothes in with a more harsher spin cycle

Just throwing it out there since you’re so crafty- crocheting is a GREAT hobby to make hammocks for rats! If you ever wanted to learn i could send you hooks/yarn and video call to teach you! I’ve made ALL sorts of hides, hammocks, and nets!! It’s saved me SO much money over the years

Can you use Bonnie craft cord? 100% polyolefin.

I did a similar one using macrome knots, this looked a LOT easier. OK sure, I didn't need to use the Glue, but it took me over 14hrs to make. (While watching Downton Abbey in the background

Hi shadow the rat, I have a really important question for u, I have 2 male rats and they are both brave enough to come out of the cage but when I give them a treat, they run away w it and everytime I touch them, they jump and run away, what should I do?
@sinistersam Жыл бұрын
You just have to get them to get more used to you and your scent. When I first got my rats, they were a lot more hesitant to come out to the cage as they were unfamiliar with my scent. I usually let them sniff my hand like a dog would and I try not to make any quick/sudden movements. They still like to run away to eat their treats moat of the time though as they want to savor them alone!

I've always noticed that Esther here,dips her finger in yogurt so they have to learn to eat whilst being close to her,and as you can see she's kind of a rat guru

I'm a bit nervous of the bitting me, does it hurt?
@sinistersam Жыл бұрын
@@niamhrose My rats have bitten me lots of times by accident (one of mine is blind and often thinks my hands are food, haha) and it only hurts a little! It feels like a little pinch but not too bad. The only time I've ever had a rat bite me and it hurt/drew blood is when one of my rats was was injured but I didn't realize it and pet her anyway. She gave me a quick nibble and it bled a tiny bit, but the pain went away after a day or so. It was completely out of character for her as she was normally so cuddly and loved to lick my hands! She only nibbled because she was injured. If I had known she was hurt I would not have touched her! If your rat nibbles you lightly or accidentally bites you it's no sign for concern. If your rats are repeatedly injuring you and drawing blood, it likely means that they are scared or have an injury that the vet needs to check out.

I dont know, my rats ate everything chewy. There are net knots that don't loosen up. It does take longer to make but for me i would prefer not using hot glue on every craft

If you can't find any rope just go boil some animal fat and find a good sapling like a regular person

@@almalittle4773 Much older 1600s rope was industrialized a long time ago because it's simple but takes an extremely long time to do by hand. I was joking because I'm a naturalist and engineer and live at a campground so that is easy in comparison to what I'm used to.
