Thanks for sharing! Love your videos, clear instructions and lots of useful info! Perhaps a couple of very silly questions, how long should this hair rinse stay in the hair and I suppose we should rinse again with water? And what's the sequence if I want to use a conditioner? 1. Shampoo, 2. this hair rinse, 3. conditioner?

Marie thank you for sharing your amazing recipes and your resource list, you are great, I love your videos. I ended up ordering the Keratin and the TRO from that not very recommendable source, and yes they are very bad. Voyageur soap and candle sells the TRO, it is a little bit more pricey, I have never ordered from them but Liza maybe you can give them a try if you really want to get the Turkey oil. Or stick to Marie alternative substitute and save yourself the extra money and work. When I run out of the TRO I have now I will use the alternative.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience :( That seems to be the norm with them these days, which is a bummer as they used to be a great source for hard-to-find stuff in Canada. Sigh.

Thanks, Am! You really only need the diluted apple cider vinegar to get the pH correcting effect, everything else is just a lovely bonus ;) I do love this rinse, but even if you don't have all the bits you definitely still want to do a basic acidic rinse so your hair doesn't tie itself in knots.

Hey Kat! I hope you enjoy playing with TRO :) Do read up on it in my FAQ, though-it's not useful for much other than incorporating small amounts of oil into large amounts of water (www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/can-use-emulsifying-wax-instead-solubilizer-solubilizer-instead-emulsifying-wax/).

Humblebee & Me oh perfect! i was just looking to see if you had some info on this. is it a super new oil? i cannot find any videos or other info anywhere on this stuff. thank you so much for the link! i had figured it wouldn't be able to emulsify much. i i was just hoping to use it to cut down on the amount of em. needed. well, actually i mostly wanted to use it in my serum base to help incorporate a couple of extracts i wanted to add. i had made this serum base i wanted to make and got my box of ing delivered so i started making it and discovered that they were a different order. so i had to finish it without everything:( i was going to just use some polysorbate until seeing this video and thinking it might be enough to help? idk. we'll see i guess. i will definitely read the bp. and go from there:) thanks again!
@HumblebeeAndMe8 жыл бұрын
Not at all-according to Wikipedia "It was the first synthetic detergent after ordinary soap." So it can't be new! I'm guessing there are probably just dozens of other better options courtesy of the never-ending march of chemistry and science, so it has fallen out of favour with most large formulators. It doesn't smell awesome, can irritate the skin in high concentrations, and is oily, so it does have limited uses. For anything that won't be heavily diluted (like this rinse or bath products) I would choose Polysorbate 20/80 or olivem300 instead.

After shampooing and using the BASIC needed ingredients of water and ACV only , is a separate conditioner necessary for detangling ? I do not want my hair to be tangled , but I also DO NOT want to use commercial brands of conditioners , bc they all contain Endocrine Disruptors. If a conditioner is necessary for detangle , Do you have a basic recipe for DIY hair conditioner that can be used DAILY in conjunction with the shampoo and apple cider and water rinse ? Thank you sooo very much for sharing your knowledge .

I always enjoy your videos and this one is no exception. Your sparkling personality makes learning fun things even MORE fun! I've noticed in several of your recipes that you use Turkey Red Oil and Guar Gum together. I'm curious...is the guar gum strictly to add some body to the finished product or is it necessary for Turkey Red Oil to do its job of emulsifying oils into the water?
@HumblebeeAndMe8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Denise! The guar gum does have some emulsifying properties, so while the TRO does the bulk of the emulsifying work, the guar gum helps stabilize the emulsion :) I have used plain ol' TRO and it does work, but I find I'm more likely to need to shake the concoction if it sits on a shelf for a while :) We're usually not using enough guar gum to give any noticeable body, so it's mostly a stabilizer. Thanks for watching and happy making!

Would this rinse be like Dp Hue APV Rinse?? I’ve been using that daily and wondering if this would replace it and still give me similar results. I should probably clarify that I don’t shampoo or use conditioner when using Dp Hue. I only use the rinse and nothing else to wash my hair and it works great. I won’t be washing my hair with shampoo. Also, is guar gum absolutely necessary or can it be skipped? What does the guar gum do and what might happen to this recipe if left out?
@HumblebeeAndMe5 жыл бұрын
It looks somewhat similar, but it's hard to say much when I only have access to their ingredient list. I would recommend using something like polysorbate 80 or cromollient SCE instead of the guar gum and turkey red oil; they are designed to function as an emulsifier/solubilizer in this formula, but there are better options. You can learn more here: www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/ :)

@HumblebeeAndMe7 жыл бұрын
I have not found a good source for plant based keratin in Canada since New Directions stopped carrying it, sorry, and I really would not recommend the source I purchased the TRO from anymore. You can use polysorbate 80 instead of TRO, though, and that is readily available in Canada from suppliers like Windy Point. Non vegetarian keratin is keratin, but I've never seen it for sale, likely because it's very expensive as it would have to be harvested from animals. There are lots of places to shop listed here: www.humblebeeandme.com/resources/

Thanks for sharing! How many uses does that recipe get? And how do you use it?
@HumblebeeAndMe8 жыл бұрын
The number of uses will depend on how long your hair is-probably at least 10. To use it, squirt a bit over your hair from the shoulders down (using it on your roots will cause your hair to get dirty faster) after shampooing, and then rinse your hair with some clean water. I have thick hair so I'll usually gather it into a sort-of over the shoulder pony tail, pour some rinse over it, flip it over, and pour some more over it. I don't need all that much-maybe 1/4 cup total each wash?

Hi your video are awesome. I just loved it. Can we make hair rinse with the help of Apple cider vinegar, hot water and mango butter? If we can then pl tell me how to do it?
@HumblebeeAndMe6 жыл бұрын
You can use ACV + hot water, but not mango butter. That would require an emulsifier, and even then I think you'd have issues with the mango butter solidifying and separating.
