OMG this is amazing my brother. Although this is a few years old, it is the foundation to so many other areas to explore in Ableton. Thank you so much for your dedication and knowledge!

Would appreciate a tutorial on how to use Ableton or any DAW software to fix an error on a mixtape. Tired of starting over when I make 1 or 2 small errors in my mix. Perhaps you can add that to your list of future tutorials. Otherwise, great job!

using a method similar to that last method, once you get the bpm right, you can take the intro vocals and play them inverted over the full track for just the intro which should take out the vocals for that part, giving you an instrumental intro

it would be nice to see how to mix songs so they have the same loudness.

I know you said that the acapella was the trickiest of the intros but honestly instead of doing that cut of that last section where it didn't sound natural you could've just did a nifty little vocal reverse, or chopped it up and sliced it so it made a cool sound, or just use the ending of the instrumental with the 2 claps, just sounded kinda awkward with the weird space there where there was no sound.

Shawn Mitchell Good point, definitely a useful tip that i'll try to implement - Ryan

Where do you get your acapella's from? Is there a site or do you make them yourselves via equalization and editing or do you go to the studio and buy a copy of the original vocal recording?

I wish they were all this easy but you skipped a step explaining Warp markers which is the most important part. Not all tracks you will find the accapella and instrumental. ;-(

As if DJing wasn't easy enough already these days.... What happened to learning to scratch or something to mix in difficult songs... Not that this is even a difficult song to mix in the first place!
@ZeroToVJ10 жыл бұрын
Hey djdooban, this tutorial was meant to be an simple intro to get people familiar with Ableton. Of course you could mix into the original track or make use of the loops in DJ software, this is just another aspect of DJing that people can explore if they choose to.

Ryan Dejaegher Nah it's cool man, I don't have a problem with the tute and I can understand why you thought that! I do sort of have a problem with all these "DJ edits" that pop up on Soundcloud where a lazy DJ extends the intro and outro and peddles it as if they've done something.
@ZeroToVJ10 жыл бұрын
djdooban I see what you mean and I agree it can leave people with a bad taste. In that case it really comes down to the person and being honest about the work. For example, It would be crazy of me to claim this edit as an original work or that it sounds superior to the original track. The goal isn't to make a superior track, it's to make the track more DJ friendly.

Billie Jean Drums, O.D.B. I got your money. great song. Wu! If you a Dj and you need to watch this video, quit! Unless you're 12 years old.
@Speakerheadbeats10 жыл бұрын
I'm saying quit. While you're still ahead.. Thousands of well studied masters out there in the world, why we need one more newcomer who doesn't know how to make a loop? so we can monetize ads on youtube? But honestly, I don't think anybody should quit anything. Drive it all everywhere it goes. Smoke em if you got em.

***** Speakerheadbeats There's a lot of different ways to get exposed to DJing and everyone's experience is going to be different. That's the great thing about learning to DJ now, it's far more accessible. It's also now more than easier for anyone to share their experience and knowledge with others. Anytime you have the opportunity, pay it forward, we can all learn from each other.
