Listen, this is not a standard youtube comment. I really mean what i am writing, i am a crocheter trying to learn knitting throught youtube. My sis asked me a pullover for her Dachshund... OMG how can I do it?? Then I found your video. I will dare to try. Your clean words, clean pronounciation (because english not my mother tongue), your clean camera...all make me dare to try. You not only teach the pullover but many other tricks for knitting. Thank you. May your little sweety have as many ages as his hairs

I accidentally found your channel and I have to say it isn't an absolutely happy accident. I am so grateful that you take the time out to show us how to make those cute sweaters. I have a Chihuahua and a Chiweenie that I really want to make sweaters for plus two other dogs. I also have two requests that I'm not sure if you have already addressed. Measuring my pup I'm not sure if I'm doing it right and I would like to know how to knit a sweater with a hoodie. Thanks for all you do you are awesome!!!!!!!
@calicoradio_knits26 күн бұрын
Hi Susan, thanks for your message 🙂. For your dog's measurements, I'd recommend prioritizing the chest measurement when selecting a size. Measure the chest just behind the front legs, which is usually the widest part of a dog's chest. For the neck, you can measure approximately where you'd like the neckline to sit. This part is very stretchy, so it doesn't have to be exact. The length of your sweater can also be adjusted to fit your dog's length. I have never knitted a sweater with a hood, so I unfortunately cannot weight in on that. Hope this helps and happy knitting! 😉

this is honestly the best tutorial i've watched for a dog knitted sweater! i once saw a very similar one but the explanation was so complicated!!! also, i have a question. I made my short rows (40 rounds in total as my dog is XL). The last row i end up with is the wrong side just as you do but if i do that last double stitch to begin with the ribbing round, i'd end up with 21 double stitches in that side and 20 double stitches on the other side! i don't know if that's how is supposed to be or if I'm doing something wrong. Or if that little difference in the double stitches is notorious. For example, i have 30 stitches left in the middle but if i do that last double stich before starting the ribbing round i would have 29 stitches between the double stitches. i'd love if you could answer this question, but i totally loved the tutorial, i actually combined this one with the edingburgh one
@calicoradio_knits3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much, Valeria! I'm so glad you're enjoying the pattern! Regarding the extra double stitch, it should come out to an even amount on either side, but overall, I don't think this is a big a deal. 🙂 Double stitches are tricky to see, so when we're working back and forth, small discrepancies are likely to happen (that happens to me often when working a short row sock heel). The important thing is that your overall stitch count comes out to an even number (a double stitch is counted as one normal stitch). This is just to ensure you can work the 1x1 back ribbing normally. 🙂

@ thank you so much for your answer! I already finished my dog’s sweater (i combined both of your dog’s sweater patterns) and it turned out beautiful!

Hi.. Please share the weight of your doggo n how much wool was used in the project, i mean this sweater. It would be very helpful. I'm ordering yarn today for the first time n don't know how much would I need for my 15kg girl. 😅

Hello! My dog is 5.5kg, and I used 95 grams / 190 meters for the size small. I unfortunately don't have yardage amounts for every size, but if you're knitting a size other than the small, I'd recommend checking out the other projects for this pattern on Ravelry. You can see how much yarn others used for their different sized projects. 🙂 ravel.me/portland-raglan-dog-sweater

Hi I am making the Portland raglan sweater for my daughter’s dachshund how much space should be from end of belly ribbing and tip of penis also when the pattern for midsection says to work to desired length based on dogs size should I stop at 14 inches as his tail starts at 15 inches. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And your dog is gorgeous by the way.
@calicoradio_knits26 күн бұрын
Hello! I left about 3 inches from the end of the belly ribbing because I didn't want Mac peeing inside his sweater, and I've noticed his sweaters tend to lengthen slightly over time with wear. I would knit the midsection to the length you'd like the sweater to be for the belly minus one inch for the belly ribbing. (:
