Hello, I am trying to design a little dome-shaped hat for a newborn baby. Circumference: 37.7 cm. Diameter: 18.84 cm. Radius: 9.42 cm. But I don’t want to sew together 12 pieces of sheepskin pie. I want to only sew 4 quarter pie pieces together. How would I calculate the size of the 1/4 hemisphere? Many thanks for your help.

Hello @carolynfranke6690. So I would set the compass at half the18.84 cm to half so at 9.42 cm to make that half circle. Divide that half circle in (2) pcs to get (2) pies so that you get your (4) pies. Then simply follow the steps on this video that you got reference to staring at the point where to draw a center line in the middle of the 1/4 pie. This is assuming you have a compass or some sort of made up tool to make perfe t circles or arcs. I will add that because you want it made with 4 pies, it will not come out having a nice radius top for lack of adding more pies. But I understand that sewing 12 pies would be a too much work. Perhaps I'll do up and post it on a shorts and see what it will look like so you have an idea.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to reply to me. I actually accomplished sewing the little hat together in another way. I first got my 1/2 pointy shape, 1/12 of the circle and put repeated it x 3, putting the points together and then drew lines to fill in the spaces at the bottom edge between the 3 pieces. This gave me essentially a 1/4 circle. I then took some old material and cut 4 pieces and sewed them together. Naturally, I got a circle-shaped piece. Then, by moulding this piece on top of a ball that was 37 cm in circumference, and pinning out the excess fabric and adding a band of fabric around I achieved my goal. I cut the mock-up hat in 4 pieces and traced the shape onto cardboard, including the band extension. It worked like a charm. My hat came out perfect. I would love to send you a photo.

350 round to 450 round straight centered so it's a cone? 350mm = 13"3/4 and 450 mm = 17" 11/16?
