Hanging them on the door is Brilliant! I have a heavy one by my front door and it's a pain. I will definitely be making one of these!
@NotchesSewing3 жыл бұрын
Not sure how heavy yours is but you could try apply Velcro to the back of it if you don’t want to make a new one. Thanks for watching.🙏
@rebeccalewis94803 жыл бұрын
I thought of that but it's filled with sand and it's 36" long. It's heavy and I'm pretty sure it would sag between the hooks. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thks….glad to find and see a visual for this! We live in old house with drafty doors/windows. North front on the house…..so we drape, block, cardboard up some spaces. Once I taped bubble wrap on some double windows and that room stayed toasty AND the daylight shown through! Looked alright from the outside too. I’m going to make more of those draft blockers too. 😀.

I forgot to mention in the video that PIPE INSULATION can also be used instead of a pool noodle. You can find those in hardware stores and come in different sizes. Also an alternative to the hooks is stick on Velcro. Apply either a long strip on the back or you can also get Velcro dots. Apply a few of these on the back. If you choose to use Velcro, then there is no need to add the loops. Thanks for watching! 😊🙏

Wow again Angela !! Another winner !! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I asked hubby do we have drafts ?? He said yes… why ? I said I have a solution and we both thought that 3 M hook idea is brilliant!! No need to move the roll every time we open the door 🤩🤩🤩 You could be an engineer too you know …. You think of solutions all the time . I love the pool noodle idea . Except I can’t find any of that in winter. So I will make this next year when summer pool noodle is in the stores . Saving this video in my folder for 2022. I look forward to your notifications ! 😂😂
@sharondonelow53643 жыл бұрын
What you may be able to find in the winter at the hardware store is pipe insulators. It's the same as pool noodles except smaller and has a slit so that it can be inserted around a pipe. The first size she sewed would be about right for that.

@@sharondonelow5364 : oh…oh . A gal who knows how to maneuver in a hardware store and find stuff 👍👍 . Thank you for the suggestion ! I get lost in those stores. 🤣 I wish I was a handy gal too cause there is no one around who is willing to do small repair jobs at a reasonable price. They want ridiculous money. @@marieg2815 Yes, it would until it cat litter gets wet. If we sealed cat litter inside a pool noodle (that would add weight and keep the litter dry). But, we may not be able to hang it on the door (it may be to heavy).

When you cut the fabric, does it make a difference if you cut the width along the selvedge or against it? I made a small tube to fill with rice to fill the pool noodle for some weight! Thank you for the design - I watched so many and this is the winner for me.
@NotchesSewing3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Danielle. Doesn’t really matter as it is quite narrow. It’s also just sitting on the floor so not really going to stretch out. As you can see in the video, I cut along crosswise grain as I wanted to save width of the fabric

I was wondering if it’d be okay to sew it closed instead of using hook & loop as a closure? If filled with scraps and/or poly-fill, isn’t it machine washable? I’ve considered making these before but you’re the first I’ve seen using a non-food filler. And I’m so thankful! I used to even search how to make custom pillow forms and got nowhere. Every cushion tutorial I’ve seen says “insert pillow form” instead.

My husband today said we need to buy a draft dodger. Can you still buy those? I did a quick search on youtube this one came up first. I watched it ;then a couple others. I came back because all the others used rice. I don't have any on hand and would be afraid rice would attach vermin. I had a pool noodle in the hall closet to use for crafting and left over scraps of a black brocade from cloak I made last summer. I had eveything on had only my ribbon was 1/8" not 1/4". Thank you!
@NotchesSewing2 жыл бұрын
