I made this engine and it works for me! Thanks for the instructions! You might consider re-cutting the bit where you fit the 8-tooth gear. Its easier to fit that axle to the outer frame before assembly. It prevents fumbling the 8-tooth gear. I also made the soda bottle pressure storage. Great idea!

thanks, all my instructions now are pictures which is easy to follow and can be downloaded easily.

Got it working well today, using the Ducati wheel as the flywheel. Runs extremely well and I am able to get it spinning with only a single Lego pump. I ran into one minor issue. Originally I used orange 1x2 Technic Beams with axle hole, something about the orange color in general seems stickier and I had horrible binding issues that would lock the engine up. It ran fine at first but after letting it sit and come back the binding issues would appear. I just swapped them for Dark Bluish Gray ones and it works fine, can come back to it the next day and it works great. Anyhow, thank you so much for the designs and the continued work on LPE's in general. If it weren't for your videos I would have never tried making one of these. I hope to try one of the switchless modified set ups soon. Have a great day and thank you for the video.

I've made a dual cylinder engine more or less based on this design. It runs on a single large cylinder lego pump, but requires a geared up fly wheel that's larger than the engine itself.

Interesting, a inline 2 cylinder from a 1 cylinder
@PunakiviAddikti7 жыл бұрын
I built the engine with some minor modifications due to limited supply of parts and the use of the older pneumatic switch design (vertical with studs and a clip-on backplate) and it runs great! Though I had to set the timing beam to 90 degrees instead of the 45 degrees shown in the video, it made it run much smoother with the old switch.
@GreenGeckoLegoTechnicWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
the reason you had to set the timing to 90 is because you mounted the switch different. nice to know it runs great. thanks : D
@PunakiviAddikti7 жыл бұрын
I see, and yes, you did great job with this design. The original LPE model I made by myself worked, but was not good enough to be presentable on my desk. This Technic design looks great and is way more presentable than my original model.

Thanks for your amazing design. It took a little bit of work to get going. Some notes in the spirit of being helpful: 1. The cylinder shipped with the MOC this is this one: www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-two-way-pneumatic-cylinder-47225-63855 and not this one: www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-small-two-way-pneumatic-cylinder-10554-74981 This means the drill bits you need to open up the holes are 1mm not 2mm. 2. The cylinder had a lot of gunk (glue? Vacuum grease?) slowing it down - we coated the cylinder head and the cylinder inside with coconut oil and it ran like a dream 3. We tried the soft drink bottles, and due to leakage around the hole - we would have definitely needed superglue to seal it, and decided this was too complicated for this particular engine 4. We ended up providing air pressure using an air mattress pump (get a moderately expensive one, because the bottom of the line ones leak too much to be effective. We used this one: www.kincrome.com.au/foot-pump-160psi) This got us the 35 psi we needed. Please come up with more designs, my kids love them!

This is awesome and super helpful. Thank you for making it! 👍 One question: does it work with the new control valve that came out a few years ago? The one you're using here seems to have less space between the points where it begins sending air to one side or the other, and I'm not sure if the new control valve will work the same way.

Looking to experiment with Lego-pneumatics for the first time, need to implement 2 cylinders into a piece just like this. Could you tell me the part# or cylinder-size? Also need to know what I'll need at minimum to power 2 cylinders. So does the switch-valve on the side merely just transfer air-pressure from one end of the cylinder to the other, in a closed-loop system? Thanks for any help I can get on this. What I really need is a basic-tutorial how to get a set-up like this going, and possibly a parts-list. Thanks!
@GreenGeckoLegoTechnicWorkshop6 жыл бұрын
i have made really basic 2 cylinder engine, have a look on my channel. i recommend 15-30psi for non modded engines like this one. let me know if you need any more help : )
@kingbotzcustoms6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I really appreciate it! Didn't even know these sets existed til today, not sure how the hell these slipped by me all these years, but it's fascinating. I'm looking to implement 2 cylinders in a particular project and I'm trying to find out what I'll need at MINIMUM to make it work. I do actually have a couple more questions at this point after watching your other video on how to make the custom pneumatic air-tank with the Fanta-bottle......I noticed you had to spin the tire to start it & get it in motion after you flipped the switch, only then does it takes-off on its own......but in this video here, you simply connected the air-supply to it and it appears to start turning on its own, what was the difference in the 2 methods in both demos? Also might sound like a silly question, but what exactly enables the perpetual-motion in this setup to go on its own momentum once it gets going? Thanks again!

Nice engine. Which presure do you need the run the engine?
@GreenGeckoLegoTechnicWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
I ran it about 40 psi, but it will run just as fast on 20-25 psi since the uses non modded cylinders and switches. You can power it by some Lego pneumatic pumps, air compressor or a soda bottle pumped up.
