Weldone ma'am,please how can I get this felt material.
@trashtastika14 жыл бұрын
@DagGirl Thanks! But the cocktail shape was made the traditional way - blocked in felt - then the dreads were added as trim or decoration only. BTW, I keep getting visitors on my blog from the hair forum, which is nice - do you know if there's a pic or link of me on there? I haven't posted there in years, you see, so I'm wondering how people are finding me :)

Hi, love your video. Can I use polyester and rayon felts to make hats?
@trashtastika6 жыл бұрын
No, it has to be a natural fibre, either sheep wool or other wool from animals (even beaver, would you believe?)

@DagGirl oh cool! Thanks!! Geez, I'd better hurry up and finish part 2 - gotta wire the hat and decorate it (& film myself doing so). I should link to your tute on roving dreads also, cos it's very practical, and I never filmed myself when I used to make them :)

Love the hat! How did you make the felt acessories ? they are awesum
@trashtastika6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Spring Graves! They are what is called roving dreads - we goth and alternative girlies often make them to install on our heads as fake dreadlocks. I never got around to making a tutorial on those, but my mate Lara has, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJ-Vq2OCr8pkbqM - take a look!

Natural fibre felts only, wool felt. The polyester ones don't have the correct properties.

Can you use burlap for this?
@trashtastika9 жыл бұрын
Ana Biernacki Hi there Ana. You could use a milliner's buckram - which already has a stiffener in it. Burlap would only keep its shape and structure if you put some kind of stiffener on it, while it's on the block or form. Or there are some sprays that are like hair spray, that you spray on the fabric to keep its stiffness and shape. Have a look here for some different types: www.hatsupply.com/sizingstiffeners.htm Be aware that the fumes of some are toxic, and your work area must be well ventilated :) Good luck with it, and let me know how you go!
