I love this. I'm currently studying to make hats as well. I bought a 1931 reprint showing me how to make these kind of hats. The brims from that era in time were angled more than in the 20s. Thank you for the tutorial!

I love this hat. The shade of blue you chose to compliment the red felt is perfect. Really nice.

How did you mold the original shape? The video show only how to decorate a cloche, not make it?
@jkopppo2238 ай бұрын
If you are referring to how the piece of wood is made, that's a hat block and hatmakers purchase them. Makers of hat-block need a different skillset (the sculpture aspect)

Where do you find the template hat material before you start molding it.
@mercedesaquino16287 жыл бұрын
Excelente video. Me gustaria saber cómo llegas a la forma básica para después colocarlo en en molde. Creo que falta esa parte, sería muy interesante para poder ver todo el proceso. Muchas gracias.

Hello, thank you for your video. Do you add shellac inside the hat?
@adriennehenrymillinery2583Ай бұрын
We don't as the wool hood comes pre-stiffened usually.

Can you please explain exactly how to measure the right amount of fabric. I saw how you measured the head but not the fabric itself. Please can you explain that. Also why do you steam the fabric?
@riechanster5 жыл бұрын
She measures the head to find the right mold size. If your head is 58 cm, you have to use a mold with a 58 cm around. The felt "cloche" is always the same size.

+Iliana Tiaré Ruiz Guillén Thank you Iliana. I studied with several milliners around England. I offer many different workshops and an introduction to millinery course.

Steaming the felt over an ordinary electric kitchen kettle is far easier, and faster, than using a steam iron....

Not really, you get far less control and are much more likely to burn yourself.

I worked 11 year for Eric Javits, blocking hats. And with all due respect, you guys need to improve hat blocking techniques.
@adriennehenrymillinery25838 жыл бұрын
This video was mainly filmed for those who are booking a cloche workshop with us. 'With all due respect'' you have no idea from this video how we block our hats. Comments such as yours are uncalled for. We block all our hats using the traditional method of steaming, what method did you use 11 years of blocking? I trust from your comment you are not a milliner! Thank you your input.
@VideosTower8 жыл бұрын
Sorry for my comment if it offended you. Answering your question, the equipment its more advance, and method of blocking is more effective with excellent results. Again, hat blocking its my passion. It was not my intention to cause any negative feeling.
@SignedDiamond8 жыл бұрын
Didn't really answer the question. They asked what your superior method was and all you could say was that it was better.
@VideosTower8 жыл бұрын
Explaining the way it should be done without visuals its kind of difficult. I'm going to get a video on how to block a hat, once I get it, I will paste a link here. Hope it could help you guys.
