Don't forget to keep the dust and shavings just put them in a zip lock or nice vinyl velcro shut bag along with your ferrowcerium rod to use it cause it's already to start a fire 🔥.

Don't use a grinder stick it in a drill and use sand paper on the ferrowcerium rod. It really looks smart 🤓 there guy good 👍 👌 work 👏 young man. I'm hoping you can yank it out of there in an emergency to make a fire 🔥 if you're out there alone in the rain 🌧 and your cold 🥶. But it looks really good 👍.

I made a fatwood handle but it was a lot like yours. A bit dry and not enough resin. I have better pieces now but they’re too sticky to use.

I bet the project smelled amazing! Does the fatwood retain it's properties over time? Or does it lose efficacy as it dries out?
@NickVanLeuven4 жыл бұрын
Fatwood holds it's properties for a very long time. The only way it loses its potency is of you make it in to sawdust or very fine shavings. When it's made in to sawdust, it doesn't seem to last as long. Hope that helps!

BTW, try 4 directions bushcraft for your fire steel. They are 2nd to none

yeah firerods are always a bit thicker then drills. So, you have a Flemish name and i live in Flanders. I do not think your flemish?

My ancestors are Dutch, however they migrated to America in the 1600's.

@@NickVanLeuven yeah that’s the way it goes, and you do not have that awful flemish tongue when they try to speak english

Trail Trash Outdoors 😳Jesus H. man does it take you all that to start a fire!?!?!? If so then you need to invest in a shit ton of lighters!
