How to make a floating teacup - DIY tutorial

This one was a doozy. In this tutorial, I tackle (for the first time) a floating teacup with sola wood flowers. I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to give up BUT I stuck it out and this could not have come out any cuter. Here is what you'll need for this floating teacup tutorial:
What You'll Need:
Fork
Glue I tried Liquid Nails, E6000, and very hot glue
Masking Tape
Tea Cup & Saucer
Sola Flowers (munchkins now available at the shop)
Greenery
Floral Tape

Fantastic tutorial Mrs Stephanie! I really appreciate your realness as you navigate a delightful idea and all the Dynamics of making it come to fruition! Haven't tried it yet however I am hoping as I'm married to a fisherman and motorcycle racer who use sinker weights and wheel weights that are flat to sneak some of those and to try those instead of rocks because you might need less of them maybe just even one of the right poundage :-) in the bottom of your cup. I'll let y`all know how it goes! 😇

Using a little (or a lot) of hot glue for instant hold along with your permanent adhesive (E6000, liquid nail, etc.). This method always works for me, great work!

Hi Stef, all good glue ideas. I’ve wrapped color duck tape around the fork. The glue or hot glue adheres to the duck tape. ❤️

I like diying using the E6000 glue it doesn't take as long to dry. And its very very durable

Have you ever tried the type of super glue that has an instant set accelerator? I got it from Amazon and the stuff is awesome. I am going to try this week to see how it works. I also am going to secure the saucer to a white snack plate that is a tad larger to give better stability.

I havent before fingers crossed you have an easier time with this project than I did, it's still holding strong to this day but whoo boy it was a process lol

@@OhYoureLovely so it did not work but I had no issues with plain old hot glue and I knocked out eight of them pretty quickly. The hard part for me is definitely getting the right fork or spoon and bending it without snapping it. They did turn out beautiful and I'm super excited to make them for friends for gifts and events. I enjoyed your tutorial very much so thank you.

Hey will it be ok if I can use duct tape the sticky tape to on the cup on because I noticed that the duck masking tape is not strong enough or is frog tape better to use ?

I havent ever tried with tape so I dont know how well or long it would hold up. Sorry I cant be of more help!

The fork being flat makes it easier to glue versus the rounded base of the spoon

I got mine from Home Depot, you do have to buy the battery separately. I love it and have been using it daily for about 2 years now

How did you get the fork bent?

I just bent it with my hands but you could also use a needle nose pliers to help bend it.

I wanted to try a few different ways that I had seen others do. But yes hot glue at least for me worked the easiest and has held up really well
