Soup Can Forge - • How to Make a Soup Can...
Today we'll be blacksmithing a socketed bodkin arrowhead from a piece of steel rebar. This is a short bodkin point and one of my favorite for heavier target arrows. It's a great small project that goes well with NightHawkInLight's soup can forge design.
Thanks for watching and enjoy!

love this so much, my cousin has a cabin we go to for vacations and such. It has a shit ton of scrap metal, including plenty of Rebar, next time I go ill have to bring my mini forge so we can build some of these and maybe one of those knives!

I really like your easy to watch and your diy projects seem very aprochable I have a couple of your books and I have gotten some pieces of PVC to start making my own PVC bows. But a video that I would be very interested in seeing is you building a Snow Ski takedown Bow. I've done a little reading/research on building 1 and I gave it a try but it didn't turn out that well. So I'd like your direction on building 1 especially in video format.

Excellent vid. Have you made tanged points to use in bamboo shafts? If not I'd like to see that. Also if you mount the anvil better, the energy is directed into the object better. great vids btw.

Hi Nick - nice use of rebar! I used Chinese steel 7.62x39 bullet cases for the sockets and just spot welded the points in. I was surprised how strong these heads were - and they still going strong.

Many historical arrowheads used in barrage attacks were made of cast iron. Cheap, fast and easy to make en mass since you could use fairly low quality iron instead of good and refined wrought iron. Instead of sharpening, sometimes the tips were large and bulbous as range percussion weapons to deal with heavy armor since arrows couldn't realistically penetrate late medieval plate Armor.

I'd love to see your take on forging a set of tanged hunting broad heads with practice/field points of matching grain out of rebar or round bar stock to fit inside carbon/bamboo shafts. no insert. Something that I've been tying to wrap my brains around and would be such a great 2 part video series.

If you use a cross peen after some hammering there's no need to upset the end, it gives it a decent spread without the risk of bending your bar stock. And forge those points by placing the point near the edge of the anvil, forging skills brother, forging skills.
