Loved the video. What precautions do I take in transport so the plaque doesn’t fall off. How much layers on each tier and how much does each tier serve
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
I usually stick the plaque to the cake with buttercream. And it really holds it to the cake! You can also use melted chocolate or piping gel. And if you want extra security, angle 2 toothpicks down into the cake (don't stick them straight in) and have the tips of the toothpick go in the back of the plaque to prevent it from sliding! Each tier is 2 layers. I torted all of the layers, so there are 4 thin layers with 3 layers of filling in between!

Great Video!!! 😄 IMAGE: You could also click the plaque shape> right click it> Now you’re on the “Picture Format” ribbon> a small square icon will appear at the top right corner> click it to get Layout Options> See “With Text Wrapping” > select “Behind Text”> click off the options> Now adjust your plaque to go accordingly over the letters. Hope this helps! 😃

Thank you for this video! I have been searching for fondant name plaques the last 2 days for a graduation cake. I have seen your video on pricing, but if you could add at the end of some of your videos how much you charged for the cakes and decorations shown in the video, I know we will all appreciated it so much. I also learned how to start making cakes with the Wilton classes at my Hobby Lobby 9 years ago then continued learning everything else from KZbin and practicing . I ask for a picture of what they have in mind try to copy the idea as much as possible in the style and hopefully improving it if I know how or depending on my skills and tools available to me. I usually bake for family and friends, but sometimes I have acquaintances that ask for cakes. 🥰

I don't like to tell specific prices, this video explains why! kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnvCh6pua7qZpc0
@nicoleagostini94472 жыл бұрын
@@KarolynsKakes yes, I understand. It is so hard to price for this kind decorations. I mainly do custom cakes and cookies for family and friends, but when other people that I know ask, I second guess myself because I have an idea of how long and skills it is going to take according to the image of the "inspection cake or cookies. The reason I ask for that is because I need to know what is in the person mind. I know you prefer if you are aloud your creative design. I haven't enjoyed watching cakes videos in a long time and I am really enjoying yours.

Hi Karolyn I want to try this but I want to do it on buttercream cake also want to know can I do it ahead of time and have it dry? Then put it around the cake? do I let it dry on a dummy cake first so I have the same shape? As a beginner I have so many questions it does my head in PLEEESE help. Thanks in advance for all your help and tutorials you have helped me so much. Love from Australia 🇦🇺
@KarolynsKakes2 жыл бұрын
This cake I put it on is all iced in buttercream, so yes you can do it on buttercream! And you can absolutely do it ahead of time and dry it on a cake dummy that is the same size of the tier you will be putting it on.

Hey Karolyn! I always marvel at how neat your fondant work is🥹 I’ve been practicing your techniques and using the tylose, etc. one thing I notice is that when I’m putting all the pieces together the finished product is either dusty looking or ashy from the cornstarch, or sometimes even sticky or smudged if I got a little carried away with the water or if I accidentally got water or frosting on it accidentally when I was pressing the pieces together or on the cake. Any way to remedy this?? I’m clumsy and messy so I know with practice I will get neater but just wondering if it was anything obvious I could do that would help with this issue. Thanks!

¡Gracias!

Yet again.... Another Amazing Tutorial! You showed some of these techniques in another one of your videos. I think you showed how to make the Name Debbie in a cake... I wanna say it was Black and Gold. But it was a Reverse technique. So instead of Fondant Lettering, it was fondant with letter cut outs. But love how your showing that some of these same techniques can be used in many ways. Makes it so we can be very creative with the cakes. I am thinking of making a batch of your Fondant, but am not very good with fondant yet, so have been procrastinating lol. I do want to try a Chocolate Fondant. Is it possible? Have you ever tried to make it chocolate? My thoughts, was to take the same measurements for your fondant, but add the amount of coco powder that would be called for in chocolate buttercream, coco verses powder sugar. As in, if Buttercream Frosting called for say 1/2 cup coco powder per 2 lbs powder sugar, then sift that into that into the 2 lbs powder sugar before adding it to the melted marshmallow mix in your fondant recipe. I have yet to see anyone post about a chocolate fondant. So figured I would just try it lol. I will let ya know how it comes out
