Are you worried the braided sleeve will become to stiff?

+Johannes Holm Not at all. It adds a little rigidity but the paracord is designed to have low friction and slide over the neighboring lines easily. Good thought though. If you braid too tightly it can easily become a bit stiffer than is ideal.

Quick little tip: At least here in Germany you can buy sleeves for silicone hoses with similar patterns and various color combinations. I know that buying a sleeve would take the fun of making something personalized by yourself away, but maybe some people prefer taking the easy route so I thought I'd point that out. Dunno whether you can buy stuff like this in the USA, as well, though..

Pretty much every shop here sells them. The biggest shop that there is in Germany is Shisha-Nil.de, but personally I prefer Smoking-Shisha (Smoshi.de), they are a great guys and girls with a really good customer support and prices so I'd suggest you that shop to order from.
