How to make a high-end watch dial

Impeccable, appealing and perfectly balanced, the dial of a high-end watch is a real tour de force to design and produce. We visited dial manufacturer Quadrance, who works for renowned and mostly classic brands. We followed the process needed to produce a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950, watching precisely how a plate of brass is transformed into the final product. Did you know, for instance, that one coating comprises cream of tartar, a form of potassium?

Absolutely! Take a close look at the Swiss workshops and factories. Most are cleaner and more organized than a hospital operating room. When you work in the finest conditions, it encourages a person to perform the best he is able. Just watching such videos is deeply inspiring!

You can make it yourself using a " doctor blade " used with automatci pad printing machines ( many sizes and thickness or even using a razor blade ). As far as I know nobody sell this tool made in this way.

What is they made a fired enamel dial disk plate out of Nivrox, wouldn't it resist hairline fractures of the enamel over time better than brass?

Hello panagranit pana, it takes between 1 to 3 weeks to make a dial. Actually, it depends first on the manufacturing processes and on the logistic.

+flexibil29 There is no shortcut to have a proper work. Go first in a Rolex retail shop and ask them directly. Or contact Rolex directly - and they should normally say that the first contact should be made with the local retailer. Some rare watchmakers are able to work on these watches. One is in Geneva. But consider some points before starting this work. Firstly it can be costly. It the watch worth it? Secondly old models are appreciate by connoisseurs also because of their little defects. For instance, black dials that turned braun on Omega or Rolex models are quite looked after. Thirdly, it is not an easy task to find spare parts. Finally, Boris Peter is a Rolex enthusiast.
