Great video. We are doing very much the same. The biggest challenge in this initial stage is the lack of natural shade. Most plants (and the bare earth), struggle in the hot direct sunlight when they are young. Thanks for sharing.

Yes it’s a problem I’ve lost some trees and plants due to this. You can use some netting for some shade. Also I use straw for mulching and I have a sprinkler system to water the plants. Thanks for watching 🙏

Hi, where are you in Thailand, I've just started along the same off-grid path in Phetchabun, currently I work in Samut Prakharn, but I plan to move to Phetchabun once everything is in place, for me it's a 3-5 year plan

Hi I’m in Buriam in Thailand 🇹🇭 it’s nice to hear other people going off grid to start a Homestead. I wish you the best off luck. Food shortages are coming so plant some rice if you can. We are busy with planting rice atm. 🙏

@@bornfreeprepperthailand Hi, thanks for your reply, thailand is the perfect place for living off-grid, I tried 17 years ago with a family in Surin, but they were not that interested in working as they had a farang now LOL, hopefully this time my venture will be a success, my wife's family are all hard workers, my wife works her ass off growing vegetables, trees etc, she has the same vision and plans as me, good luck with your life, I wish you every success, take care, Chris

Thanks you Chris it’s hard to change your mindset when you are young just like me my wife and I liked living in the city. But now wiser and older I what to live in the country side. People think that farmers are low class but since I started to make the Homestead people think that we are rich? 🤣 it’s good to start by planting fruit trees and hard wood trees for the future you and your wife are doing the right thing. Use your paper money and start small projects like digging a pond, solar water pump bore well is a must. 🙏

@@bornfreeprepperthailand Thanks for the idea's, I'm a country boy at heart, never liked city life, the land I paid for has a teak tree plantation on it (approx. 600 trees, planted around 10 years ago), we are using some of the trees to build our home, it also has 2 ponds with fish, frogs and snails in them, there is also approx. 4 rai of eucalyptus trees, so we've got a pretty good start, our plan is probably the same as yours, to be totally self sufficient, using solar-cell power, I'm also looking at wood gasifiers as I'll have a lot of fuel on the land, along with bio-digester gas production, keep up the good work, your homestead looks awesome
@bornfreeprepperthailand2 жыл бұрын
Wow that’s is really good land what you have got. The trees are a good investment I wish I had a teak Forest. I really would like to build a traditional teak house but the wood is really expensive. However you seem to have an awesome place and using different fuels and learning about them is good. I hope you keep in touch and let us know how or what you are doing on your Homestead in the future. Nice 👍🏻 🙏

Fascinating video. Exactly what my wife and I are doing in Udon. How much did the drilling for the water cost?
@bornfreeprepperthailand Жыл бұрын
Sorry I didn't see the message. It cost me around £1,200 with the drilling and solar pump I think? Please watch my videos on this topic for more information

Sure I'll keep in touch, it's rare to find likeminded people in this modern world, if you've not already watched him, there's a chap with a youtube channel by the name of 'Jon Jandai-life is easy" who's very clued up and informative

Yes I’m a subscriber to his channel and he has very good content. Thanks and take care 🙏

Do you have any cedar trees to build a log house in Thailand??
@bornfreeprepperthailand9 ай бұрын
I'm afraid not. Teak wood to build houses here are very expensive. You can get kit houses however already made. Depending on your budget. Thank you for your comment 🙏

Do you fertilize? If so, with what? The land doesn't look fertile yet the plants grow fine.
@bornfreeprepperthailand2 жыл бұрын
Yes we use chicken poop fertiliser for the fruit trees. Also the rice fields are full of natural fish that helps to fertilise the lands. You can see this on my rice planting videos. Thanks for watching nature’s a wonderful thing 🙏
