I just finished it and I love it! Since I didn’t have a mannequin, I had my mom wear it as I pinned it which was really helpful. Thanks for the tutorial!

Bonjour vidéo très intéressante. Je fais actuellement la crinoline de votre vidéo 55-inch mais j'en rencontre une difficulté avec les cerceaux. Comment déterminer la hauteur entre chaque cerceaux s'il vous plaît.
@GiorgiaCostumes6 күн бұрын
Hello! Thank you for watching! Here's some steps I think might be helpful in determining the height between each hoop: 1. I recommend getting your waistband finished first and ready to go. 2. Finish your bottom hoops and bags and attach the bag to the tape. 3. Attach the tapes to the waistband while you're wearing it, so you know where the bottom of the skirt will hang. 4. Measure the tape between the top of the bag and the waistband, and divide that by how many hoops you have - that should give you the measurement of where to evenly place the hoops! I hope that this helps - let me know how you go!

Hi Georgia! How would you recommend going about making a hoop skirt that’s wider at the hips and thinner at the front and back, like those used in the 18th century?
@GiorgiaCostumesАй бұрын
@@hannahtelevised Hi Hannah! Apologies for getting back to you so late on this question! If you’re talking about an 18th century hoop skirt that’s wider than it is deep, I believe you’d be after a pannier (also known as a grand pannier)! A pannier pattern is significantly different to this simplified hoop skirt, because rather than just making a cage structure (like in the video) you need to actually draft a skirt with specific measurements and insert the boning into the fabric. The pannier is held together on the inside by also tying it into place with ribbon or tape. I haven’t made a pannier tutorial yet, but I hope to soon! In the meantime, I’d scope around to see if any other costuming channels have a tutorial available. Otherwise I would recommend my friend Good Hunter, who is not only an amazing seamstress but has released a pannier pattern pack that should work! I hope I’ve answered your question! (And apologies if I haven’t!!)

Could I space out the hoops more to make it at my ankles or would it mess it up
@GiorgiaCostumes5 ай бұрын
@@myrandommind1148 you can absolutely do that! The beauty about this tutorial is that it serves more as a guideline than rigid instructions, so you have a lot more freedom to change the shape and silhouette of it! I recommend pinning all the hoops to the straps and giving it a test run before finalising the stitching of them down. That way you can move things higher or lower before having committed to anything. Good luck!

Where would you recommend buying tulle tape and the steel thing online? I don't really know what to look for as I've never really done anything similar before. (Preferably not super expensive alternatives - I'm in uni lol)
@GiorgiaCostumes2 ай бұрын
This is a bit of a vague answer, because I'm located in Australia and not everything is available everywhere... 😅 I got my twill tape from my local craft store, but you can also buy the steel hoops and tape from online retailers! You can also buy them for cheap on places like Aliexpress but the quality might not be as great!

@@GiorgiaCostumesThank you. I did end up going online and asking cosplay forums, but I will probably keep this in mind for later projects.

Which size is the crinoline in this video because it looks perfect on you. Not too big, juste the right size!!😊

I used the size 43" waist hoops, but slimmed the waistband down a touch since I was wearing a corset underneath!
