Some of the things they make and pull off on this show are pretty crazy not gonna lie weather the show is fake or not it's still fun to watch and you can learn things that will help you in a survival situation
@noahkinard85693 жыл бұрын
It really depends on what you mean by fake. Cody and the newer contestant Matt both have real survival courses and actively educated people in the real world. And I have no doubt Joe was in the military. I've known many in the military and he's probably a marine. Is it supervised? Yes. They need crew to achieve certain shots and angles to make good useable footage. And these cameramen employed by discovery are very talented people. Is there medical backup? Yes. But contrary to what some others would say, I highly doubt it's a formal ambulance because of obvious environmental and logistics issues. They probably have air vac or locals on standby. Is what they do itself scripted? Sometimes they probably do retakes to make for more usable footage, but I believe 99% of what is done on the show is genuine. You can guage by the psychology and emotions seen that these two are serious about their circumstances especially when it goes back. Most of the failsafe accommodations for the contestants on the show are probably for legal reasons as obviously Discovery is a business after all. I think it's almost disrespectful and disengenuine to the art of survival tactics and skill to say it's all staged.

Yes sometimes we had to stop and redo something or get a different angle to help tell the story or show the skill BUT sometimes like here u only get one shot at it! Sometimes for close up or something they'd have us do it several times as long as it didn't greatly effect the skill we were doing. There was also needed B Roll and Intro stuff. @hephesto5556663 жыл бұрын
It really isn't. Much too reliant on wind direction and without a method to release it at a higher altitude it is almost guaranteed to crash into the hills surrounding the valley they are in. Fun tv though, in reality the smoke from their fire or static signals would be much more effective methods if someone would actually be searching for them.
@bl4z3com1ik83 жыл бұрын
How are the rescuers supposed to ring down this ballon in the first place to see the map that joe drew? How would they know that that's an SOS signal?
@hephesto5556663 жыл бұрын
@@bl4z3com1ik8 It does stand out, especially thanks to the colour. That said, the chances of somebody coming across it in a timely fashion and being able to do anything worthwhile with it or the message it is carrying are slim at best. Depends on the situation of course, if you know people are looking for you and there would be helicopters in the region there might be a use for it, though in such a situation you'd normally try and stay near the place where you got stranded (or a nearby location with shelter and access to an open area where you could signal). In fact I'd be more worried about the potential of starting a forest fire and loosing the insulating material than anything else. Granted the surroundings are cold and wet, but I suspect they'd get much more mileage out of it be using a part of in as a flag signalling post and leaving a message near it. A golden, reflective piece of cloth blowing around in the wind at a fixed point has a lot more potential to actually have searchers go to a specific area and find a message of where you were forced to move on to. The balloon has limited air time, is solely dependent on wind direction and could destroy the message and even surroundings once it goes down.

Cody: "Well.. if it's the same thing I'm seeing.. it looks like a pile of dirt." Joe: "Cody! That's an Ant Pile." Cody: "Okay?.. What about it?" (Joe now explains to the camera) Joe: "When I was in Special Forces you are taught to always keep your head on a swivel. If you come across an Ant Pile of that magnitude in size, you Do NOT turn your back on it. And in Special Forces training, when you come across something that Lethal, you do Not approach it.. at all. In Special Forces, you are taught that an Ant Pile just doesn't have Not One or Two Ants ready to Ambush you. There are literally a lot. And in Special Forces, when just One Ant picks up on your scent, it lets all the other Ants know that you are around. And in Special Forces, you are taught that when those Ants realize that you around, even if it's 40 meters away, you are compromised. There is No Way that I am going to allow my partner to face the danger of a massive horde of Ants to Ambush me or partner." Joe: "What about it!? Cody, you are out here with No shoes on and an Ant Pile that big is literally 40 meters away. I am Not turning my back on that Ant Pile!" Cody: "Joe, let's just keep going and just walk around the Ant Pile and find a place to build a shelter and make a fire and try to find some water and food." Joe: "No! I'm going to low crawl off to the left and flank them and Utterly Destroy that threat." Cody: "Do what?" (Again, Joe talks to the camera) Joe: "You see, that's what I'm talking about. Cody doesn't understand that I am Special Forces with skills that HE doesn't have. And Cody is out here with No shoes with a freaking Ant Pile right in the path of our mission target. If I allow my partner to get near that Ant Pile, it's game over. PERIOD!" Cody: "Joe, I've dealt with many Ant Piles over the years. Beginning when I was a child. If you don't bother them, they won't bother you." (Again Joe talks to the camera) Joe: "In Special Forces training, you are shown a Documentary on how dangerous Ants can be. It's called.. Attack Of The Killer Ants. Ants are nothing to take lightly. I've seen the destruction of what Ants can do." Joe: "Cody! If you aren't going to help me get rid of this threat, just move back about 80 meters or so. I'll handle this." Cody: "Okay Joe. Well, when you feel that your life isn't in any more danger, I'll be in the shelter I'll build sitting next to the fire I rubbed two sticks together and you can rehydrate and fill up on some calories from the food and water that I gathered for you.. i mean us." (Joe finally arrives at the shelter) Joe: "I had to call in an airstrike." Cody: "Why?" Joe: "There were just too many Ants to flank." Cody: 🤔
