Out in Alberta where I live. This actually happens a lot. People have decent off road vehicles loaded with gear. They get stuck, break down etc. Hike out to get a cell signal or find their group and sometimes within a few hours to a few days they return and the vehicle is stripped, gutted, windows smashed and normally burned. We do lots of clean ups in the major crown lands and we see RVs, Dirt Bikes, ATVs, Jeeps, Cars etc just completely torched and smashed up. That is why we always tell people to try to go with at least 2 other vehicles so one person can stick around. Its brutal.

@@scheisstag car hood itself is way too big to fit up inside the cab , BUT perhaps the back part of it… if not an actual fire inside with you you could have a brazier in which coals from a fire could be stacked up onto. The problem come from the fact that the metal frame of a vehicle becomes a massive heat sink , sucking away any heat. Stripping the insulation , carpeting and cushions and using the tipped over shed creates a shelter that is insulated and is not a heat sink. And the hood of the car, bent into a 90degree angle, becomes a bbq pit and reflector that you can prop up with rocks or chucks of woods and push as close to your hut as possible and now the potential size of your fire has increased and it’s efficiency has increased

Shelter, because you don't want to die of exposure. Water is next because it only takes roughly 3 days to die of dehydration. Fire is next for a source of heat to keep warm, cook food, and make pottable water. Food is last because it is a thing that people can last the longest without, around 3 weeks before starvation kills you.
