This cake is so happening for Christmas 🎄!!! Think white chocolate ganache with green food coloring. What a beautiful centrepiece! I watched an episode of Midsomer Murders and their was this story line about one of those fête’s they seem to be constantly having. Anyhoo there was this whole thing about a lamington cake. I googled but al the recipes seemed weird. Thanks for the recipe.

This is such a great alternative for people who don't like a whole ton of overly-sweet buttercream! Though I do wish you had shown us what a real Lamington is!! :) This is such a great recipe and I can't wait to try it!

A lamington is like this, but is usually either a square or a rectangle slice. Not all have jam and cream.

Hello, just noticed in the recipe it says to preheat fan forced oven at 180 C!!! Should it be 160C? 30 /35 baking time? Just wondering whether this could be an error. Cheers Mary

Why would you wanna eat unsweetened coconut???
@kellytruebody22645 жыл бұрын
It ensures that the cake isnt too sweet. As ganache the cake itself the whipped cream eith condensed milk in and the jam contains alot of sugar
@SugarRainbowRomance5 жыл бұрын
Also, in Australia where lamingtons come from they’re rolled in unsweetened coconut, we don’t really have sweet coconut here...

Worth mentioning this is not a true lamington cake as lamingtons are made with sponge. This was a butter cake base. Would taste good but an insult to lamingtons.
@thescranline3 жыл бұрын
I take severe umbridge. Not a lot of people know this but my great great gay grandfather earl of Lamington de mimsey was the inventor of the dessert. He dipped his hand in a bucket of chocolate on afternoon before dinner and he decided to eat it atop the coconut barrels of their family farm because he enjoyed the view of the lochness monster (who at the time liked to go by the name Trish). Trish was a cross dressing monster, the last of her kind, and he liked to see what her lewk was each sunset. He fell into the barrel of coconut and that’s how lamingtons were invented. Not a joke, just a fact. You’ll notice sponge cake was not involved in the conception of this treat. Learn your istry!
@prototypep43 жыл бұрын
@@thescranline 1) that was the shittest copypasta I've ever seen. 2) learn your own history as Lord Lamington's chef is mostly credited with the dessert in the late 1800's clearly outlining the use of vanilla sponge cake for the base.
@rapapaus4 жыл бұрын
Don’t waste your time on this recipe. According to the ingredients and cooking times of this recipe, you will get a salty jam and undercooked sponge. Waste of time, money and effort

Others have made this recipe and loved it. I’ve made it four times. If you can’t follow instructions, then by all means, do not make any recipe at all.
