That turned out beautiful. I like how you walked through the procedures with explanations why you did what you did.

Thanks Jim. This is really helpful feedback because I've been experimenting with combinations of the "Watch me work - music video" vs. the more informative like this one. The talking ones end up being longer, but if it's informative and engaging, people tend to stick around.

I was able to make 1/4 in. square corners on a lathe by putting a 1/2 in. round bar in the tool holder and the 1/4 in. mill tool in the chuck. had to be real careful to get the corners 90 degrees so it would be square but it worked out, did have trouble figuring out trying to keep the cross bar in but again, it worked out...if I had a mill those collet blocks would be the thing to have! but I had to eyeball with what I had...

My lathe is about 102 years old and I have every reason to believe the 4 jaw on it is original to the machine, the key though was made from some random piece of 3/8" rod welded into a T with a square drive ground in with likely a bench grinder. I think it may be due an upgrade!

Could of course repair the old part, weld two flats to build them up them grind or mill them down to size. Far less fun but frees up some time for other things. Like to way you use progressively larger bits to drill, good methodology.
