If you plan on making more books I suggest a holemaking jig all you really need is a block of wood with a v shaped groove in it(for advanced precision you might want to drill small holes in it the place you want the paper to have holes 1.5 mm might be good)
@DarkHorseWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
@@nullsnaggle5198 I do a lot of one off projects, but might be a good idea to do something like that just so people can see it done, thanks. :)

Perfect timing. I just started laying out the artwork for my Pathfinder characters leather journal. I love making handmade leather books. Interesting side note, miniature paint works great on leather too.

2:02 Have you seen the Fiskar finger knife with loop? So easy to use. Reminds me of the swivel knife. 3:20 , except it takes Exacto blades. 💖🌞🌵😷.

Loved this video! I’m trying to learn how to Coptic stitch a leather cover to the binding as you have done here. Could you possibly do another video explaining this technique a little clearer? I realize you don’t specialize in book binding itself so perhaps you could point me in the direction of another tutorial on this. I’ve searched but can’t seem to find anything that explains it. Thanks! PS: im also learning leather carving and find your designs amazing!

Neatsfoot oil is rendered out of cattle bones. If you're already using the leather, you may as well use all of it huh? It's only respectful. Edit: loved the blue and the idea of the two straps holding the book closed rather than the obvious cord round a button or such.
