Dude I watch a lot of leather smiths but your skill with not only using a swivel knife, but also DRAWING the patterns, is unmatched

Don, I just wanted to thank you for having such a fantastic channel. I’m just getting started in leather working and I have already learned so much. You’re by far my favorite LW channel. 👍

Don you need to add a disclaimer, "this isn't as easy as I make it look!" I tooled through my dad's cancer battle as a sort of therapy and haven't had time to tool in years but you make me wanna crack the tools back out even though I know it'll look nothing like your art.
@TexHoss12 жыл бұрын
I know what you are saying. Just his carving alone looks far better than all of my tooling, lol. I have never claimed to be an artist.

The free hand drawing, the swivel knife, the finish. Just perfect in every way

I love the way you just draw the pattern - like it's nothing; and then you cut the pattern - like it's nothing; and then you tool the pattern - like it's nothing. It's mesmerising to watch the process, and the finished piece is so beautiful - it makes a spiral binder look like a family Bible.♥

Small tip to help you with those zippers Don, and that would be a double sided tape preferably one meant for leather or fabric. That stuff saved me so much unwanted frustration, and single handling improved my zipper game 10-fold! Hopefully this helps you or anyone out

Another excellent video showing many of the essential techniques! Another feature for a future version might be a little "bookmark" tab to mark the progress of writing in the notebook. Perhaps your viewers will have some ideas on that. Thanks for another great video. I have learned so much watching them (antiquing, Razor exacto, etc.).

Hi Don, thank you for these great videos they are a big help and you do such good work. I’m getting ready to make my grandson something like this for his graduation from college but I do have a question. Can I ask where I could find an edger like your using to trim the inside liner after sewing? I’ve never seen one quite like that before and I think that would be a great piece to add to my leather making tool collection? Thank you so much for your help much appreciated. Tammy

What's the reason for the painters tape? You are the only tooler I've seen use that. You are also the only one I've seen draw directly on the project.
@Lexi_gamer20142 жыл бұрын
I think it’s to prevent the leather from shrinking from when you get it wet to tool. I’ve seen others use something similar, but also the first time I’ve seen someone use painters tape.

Beautiful work Mr. Don!! I was wondering how do you dye the panel face edge? Where you have the tooling, how do you dye around where the stitches are. In this case I assume it’s black dye? Thank you in advance!!

What is the measurements for the notebook I’m working on it currently and get it mocked up and the notebook won’t fit at all and it is college ruled and a 3 subject
@wayneyates2302 жыл бұрын
You do fantastic work. How much would it cost to put this particular cover over a Bible?
@frederikbruck52107 ай бұрын
For simplicity: Just meassure the diameter of the spiral, multiply that by Pi (roughly 3.14) for circumference and subtract the thickness of the notebook. For example: Diameter 2,5 centimeter, thickness 2 centimeter Spinepiece-width: 7,85 minus 2 -> 5,85 centimeter (2 1/3 inch)

Will be hand stitching for now, I can see blisters in my future. Who performed and what is the song in the background? Created to create..... thank you for what you do.
