Thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial! It's super helpful. Just curious, in the beginning, you say to reduce the measurement size to account for the fabric elasticity. By what factor should one typically reduce it?

Thank you 😊 This really depends on the fabric. I usually take a small piece of fabric (10 cm) and stretch it over a ruler to see how much it stretches. Or I take the fabric and stretch it over my body (tights for leggings) to see how much it stretches and is still not transparent. For the leggings the reduction can be significant, for example I take 80% of the original measurements if the fabric is Lycra/spandex. With cotton jersey the reduction is very small, only 95-98% of the original measurements.

You should try Valentina instead. S2D doesn't have updates since rename. Don't waste time on obsolete projects. No developers -> no progress -> no future.

Thank you for your comment. That's interesting, I used to draft with Valentina about two years ago (that was the first open source patternmaking software I tried) but I switched to Seamly2D - if I remember correctly it was because Valentina was not updated and supported anymore and Seamly2D was a new working version of it. Now, after having read your comment, I tried to find the newest version of Valentina to download it. But the latest version I found is from 12 Oct 2018. And I also get redirected from valentina-project.org straight to Seamly2D website. Can you tell me please where to find the latest version of Valentina?

@@VeNove You need to know what happened in the community to understand the current situation. I am a co-founder and main developer of Valentina project. The whole project was mainly developed by me with few contributions to code by other people. Another co-founder was just a community manager. There are many reasons why I had decided to left the community. But now i maintain an independent branch with the same name Valentina (my mom's name). My version you can find here valentinaproject.bitbucket.io/. Technically i have made fork of my own project and did not change the name. Seamly2D team afraid of my project and refuses to completely abandon use of the old name. To trick Google and people like you. Valentina is now thousand light years ahead of Seamly. Try release 0.6.1. Or even better, download a test build for future 0.7.0! Go and check a changelog bitbucket.org/dismine/valentina/src/develop/ChangeLog.txt.

@@romantelezhynskyi9988 Thank you very much! I just downloaded Valentina and I am so happy it's compatible with all the patterns and measurements I made in seamly :-) This version of the software looks very good and I can't await to test all of its features. I also see you wrote a manual to Valentina, I would like to buy a full version of it in English. Could you tell me how I can make the order?

Hi Roman. I was just getting ready to download S2D when I read your review of it here. I've seen that S2D has the grading feature that is A1 in my book. Just magic! Does Valentina have that feature and will it revalue all of the measurements in the file automatically when say; a new bust measurement is added? Oh, maybe you could straighten me out here. Does SeamlyMe (the companion measurement program) work with Valentina, and what program are you using to print valentina patterns? Wow, I didn't think I had so many questions. Any info you can share is greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much!
