@GDubSupreme5 жыл бұрын
Two wires from the plug and switch and two wires from the motor. Connect one plug wire to one motor wire. Then connect the other two. It doesn't matter which one you connect as long as it is one from the plug and one from the motor. It is operating on AC power which is alternating current and therefore no need for negative/positive wires. You will notice that when you start it and stop it, it will spin in either direction.

MrCoop, thanks so much for this it is exactly what I needed to know to get started. I had a general idea of what I needed to construct but had no clue about what type of motor to use. I have 2 questions please, first the motor is listed as 2.5-3.5rpm, that seems awfully slow to me so I just want to be sure the link hadn't changed. My other question is construction related, I hate wasting an entire dowel for 1 lousy inch, any suggestions on what else I could use to attach the motor assembly to the pvc rod? Thanks a bunch
@MrCoop5 жыл бұрын
These 2.5 to 3 rpm motors are what have been used since the beginning of the turner world. Some folks use faster ones and like them. Myself I like the slower ones the epoxy works better leveling out in my opinion. As for the dowel. They are cheap and you can use more of it if your decide to make new turners. The cost is worth buying it.
@mszoomy5 жыл бұрын
@@MrCoop thanks hun. I have made my first one and it works great. I thought the motor would be slow but its perfect. Thanks so much for the tutorial. I did go a slightly different way with attaching the motor to the pvc, I drilled the hole in the board with the motor a little larger, then used a cotter pin that went through a hole drilled in the pvc pipe and then through the hole on the shaft. Hammered the pin flat and it doesn't bind. Without a drill press it was impossible to drill that hole perfectly

@dawnbailey4195 жыл бұрын
The motor used in this video is basically the same motor used in your microwave to turn your food while it's hearing. It's not meant to stay turning for hours. The motor gets to hot and stops working. The best motor for cup turners are rotisserie motors, the kind you find on grills. They are $25-$35 a piece but they will run for hours and hours and hours and never fail you. So it's worth the price to pay so as not to ruin a cup, epoxy, time and then time spent to strip the failed cup. Just look on KZbin for how to make rotisserie multi cup turners or single turners. Whichever your looking for. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi, I have a question about making a cup turner. My daughter wanted to see if I could make her a couple of these for her. I was able to locate the motors and cords with inline switches. Making the wooden base and box was not a problem, also glueing the dowel rod inside the pvc pipe. My biggest problem, which you don't really show, is how do you drill the hole for the shaft of the motor dead center of the dowel? I have been able to find exact center of the dowel, but even using a drill press, it seems that the drill bit tends to follow the wood grain and is never centered. Then when used, it turns like egg shaped and binds in the holes in the box. Please help and let me know how you are drilling these. Thanks
@MrCoop6 жыл бұрын
I used a wood lathe to drill mine. There are videos on KZbin that show you how to drill a center hole. Your best bet is find a local pen and wood turning group. Those guys would probably drill your 7mm hole and turn them down to the size you need to fit the pipe for free. If they did charge you it would be only a few $$.

Where does the male end go? Never seen you put that on.
@shawnpennington91735 жыл бұрын
The male adapter goes on the other end of the pipe from the motor and you can get a female adapter and another piece of pipe, glue the female adapter to the pipe that way you can secure the pipe to the turner with your cup on it. If you want to store the cup somewhere to finish drying, you can leave the pipe in the cup, have another one made and ready and continue with your next cup.

I have had same issue with 2 of mine. What I have discovered is something isn't quite lined up/level. What I haven't figured out is how to correct it. Except when I loosen the screws to the motor...which obviously isn't a good solution either.
@duaneroepke50046 жыл бұрын
if you can use longer screws to hold the motor in place and not screw it down tight to the board the motor will "float"and not bind. light oil in the holes where pvc comes through would help also. pvc pipe MUST turn very free or motor will be labored. only to make it better would to add bearings and that would be a whole new ballgame.
