How to make a loopback cable

Hi, Nerijus. Thanks for doing this. I picked up a cheap usb 7.1 channel sound card with dual mic input and use it to measure inpulse response using Dayton IMM-6 mic. It works really well. I had to play with the level out loopback since it's line out level and mic is expected to take in lower voltage. My question is, what do you do if your driver do the phase wrap, or the weird U phase due to whatever reflection or cabin gain? And it's at the crossover regin(1octate before and after xover)? Should I move the crossover point to somwhere where both driver have no phase wrap? or just use helix to do phase wrap with allpass on the other drive to "match" the driver with phase wrap?

It depends on the frequency where that wrap is. Anything in the midrange drivers or tweeters I would leave alone. Adding an all messeses the imaging up. I use all pass only for midbass drivers if needed.

Not sure how I came to this video, but have to say it was good to watch. Not sure I will ever need this info, but the point about the heat shrink is good. Hadn't thought of doing that for a coaxial cable. (Though I'm rarely working with cables so...) Thanks! ❤

You can use any connectors/adapters/jacks.

how important is to connect the outputs directly to DSP? Can I use my car's multimedia aux input for feeding signal to DSP while doing TA instead? Btw is it important to do DAC calibration in the HOLMimpulse before doing any measurements? thanks again for another great video!

You can use aux if you wish to. For phase alignment the sound card calibration is not needed.

No, you need only one signal.

Yes, you have to setup the loopback in the prefferences under the soundcard settings.

Totally irrelevant to this specific video, but... I already watched 90% of your videos (just like 6-7 other sq audio channels too) and the amount of data in my head is making it hurt on a daily basis. :D What would you recommend if I'm looking for a single unit to upgrade my system? I'm looking for a bt-dsp-4-chan amp triple combo device to actively run my 2 way fronts and do time alignment, eq, filtering and have an rca output for my monoblock for my sub. I was kinda narrowing it down to an AudioControl D-4.800 with the BT module, but it's quite far outside my budget atm. TIA.

The Alpine PXE-R500 would be an amazing option, slightly pricey, but quality item. More expensive option is Helix M four DSP. If you are on a very tight budget, get something from China,like the Sennoupu I reviewed.
